  1. Thanks a lot for the response and great advise. I have been looking at those rattles and now am going to go with them. They look like they will last and not get in the way. Also the thin part that the hook passes through looks like it will not get in the way of plastic trailers one may add. Thanks again Allen for the great suggestion and advise.
  2. I am wanting to make some jigs but am confused on the kind of rattle collar to use. I plan on using a rubber collar that rattles can be attached to and also tying the skirts with wire. My question is what kind of rattle collar should I use? I have seen some with rattle holders on arms and some with rattle holders right next to the collar (looks like Mickey Mouse). A lot of jigs come with the Mickey Mouse type collars but I have found that the rattles tend to mess up the skirt and catch on vegetation. Does anyone have experience with the rattle collars on arms (spider collars)? Any information is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks BobP. I will try posting on the wire forum as well. Good info though.

  5. Opps, lol I dont know how to do this yet. Ok Kris the Lucky Craft knockoff is a removable front hook hanger bait. I think the site is predatorbaits.com. It is one of the spnsors of this site. On the site the guy says he is in the process of creating BDS 3 molds for baits with and without rattles. Thanks for the welcome and advise. I have just gone to a hobby shop and talked to another customer for quite a while about airbrushes. He convinced me that airbrushing is the way to go. I am not sure about the crankbait blanks from any place yet. I have read other forums about blanks that do not run right at all. I am looking for nonrattling shallow plastic crankbaits (0-4 feet). I am sick of replacing my balsa baits and not really wanting to spend $15 per Lucky Craft bait. Well it will be a while be for I am airbrushing my own baits but when I do I plan on posting some pics for advise on improvement. Once again thanks for the any help since I am a complete newbie to tackle making and painting.
  6. Hello. I am new to this forum and would like to say hi and sorry if this topic has been done to death. I am wanting to start painting my own crankbaits. I have found a site to purchase knockoffs of Lucky Craft lures, but they are not painted. I just want to make some simple patterns and do not want to spend a lot on airbrush stuff as I just want some for personal use. I am thinking about spray painting them. If anyone could help me out with advise on possible paints to use and what to top coat the lures with. Any advise would be appreciated. The simpler and less toxic the better. Thanks a lot.
