consider investing in a wood burning "pencil" with different tips. it helps with the 3D details big time. my 0.02$: just take your time and do your best. I'm sure you'll be fine. my first lures looked like a bad joke so I can tell you it is just a matter of practice -

5" jerkbait glider -
A wounded bass, 8.5" swimbait made of super tough urethane resine. The mold for this bait is based on a hand carved wooden model covered with a skin of 3D scales. The stainless steel hinges and hook eyes are casted in the bait's body. Airbrushed and coated with automotive clearcoat. Any votes are appreciated. Thank you for looking, Gabriel.

by using a release agent (it comes in a can and you spray it on the mold). besides my molds are made of silicon rubber which doesn't stick to urethane. -
