  1. 300 with dipping, probably much more if you brush it on!
  2. Like I posted on another topic, I used to seal balsa baits with solarez. Until I discovered it would crack when dropped on the concrete! I found it didn't really penetrate into the wood very deep. I would guess about 300 lures per pint of solarez. That's just a guess!
  3. Mr. Beckfield, I appreciate you responding to this post. I did get your voicemail Friday night, I should have responded but I chose not too. I will be the first to admit, coming on TU and complaining probably was not the best choice, but I did! Looking back, it really wasn't a huge deal but for some reason I was not happy. I will be honest, I did send a few emails that stated I was not happy. I will say I sent you an email Friday afternoon saying something to the effect of " call me and explain what happened " after a couple hours with no response I came on here and complained. Like a said, it was probably childish on my part. I wish I had handled it in a better manner! Rob
  4. I generally clear coat my lures at night and let them turn over night. I use bob smith epoxy and it dries in 3-4 hours. Etex generally takes 8-9 hours, occasionally longer! gst is probably my favorite clear (for now). It takes a week to really get hard though!
  5. I've pretty much stopped using solarez. The only thing I use it for now is applying a lite coat of glitter. In my opinion it is way to brittle. I noticed a couple of lures I had used it on we're getting cracks on the sides and belly. So I held one straight out in front of me and dropped it on my garage floor, and it cracked! These were balsa baits. I've gone back to using bob smith on wood and gst on plastic kos
  6. that is drawer liner from dollar general, but I also put a comb in front of it to block some of the spray.
  7. on my plastic kos I use the stick on eyes. But they don't look right on wood lures imo
  8. Are you saying to put a white dot, then green, then black?
  9. I have been putting these eyes on about 98% of my lures. However, I would like a different look on them, and the colors I've tried don't look right. What colors would you all recommend?
  10. I bought some from Home Depot and lowes, I did not like either product. I found some real "azek" at a local store and really like it much better!
  11. I feel like I was lied too! I was charged 12$ for ups shipping. On Monday I recieved an email stating " your package has been shipped" however I got the package from USPS and it clearly says on the stamp it was shipped Wednesday!! Other than trying to pocket an extra five bucks I see absolutely no reason why it was shipped via the USPS! I could care less who delivered my package, but I should have been given the option to pay 5.80 for USPS.
  12. I don't even notice the smell, I unscrew the lid dip the bait and reseal it. I'm not holding my nose over the jar and taking big whiffs of it. I'm guessing rubbing my fingers on the lead belly weight is causing more damage than the gst! Just my opinion though.
  13. I made some top water spooks out of PVC on a lathe. They worked great!
  14. I would add PVC holds hook hangers really well though!
  15. Mark, I completely respect your opinion. However I am going to give mine. I would start with balsa wood and seal it with super glue. Balsa is a great wood for beginners and the super glue allows for test swims immediately. When tried PVC I found it hard to carve and much more difficult to get a proper belly weight. It does not take much! I like PVC but it's touchy!
  16. The Thule I have used is shaped like small diamonds, and I did not like it. The pic is more of a circular pattern in my opinion

I also seal with super glue, I get the thin extreme power brand at hobby lobby.
  18. I forgot about my spinner experiment, but I found the buzz blade I coated about a month ago, in the laundry room. Oops! It's hard as nails, I hit it with a drill bit and bit barely left a mark!
  19. Travis, I would have assumed since my order was placed Friday early that it would ship Friday. However I understand if it doesn't get shipped that day because things happen. And since it was a holiday Monday I guessed maybe they took a long weekend, which is also plausible. However, I recieved an email on Monday, saying my packaged had shipped via ups, which I was charged 12$ for shipping. I got package today via USPS which he paid 5.80 to ship. So basically I paid 12$ for a one week delivery service. I could have rode a moped to Minnesota faster. And probably cheaper. Why was USPS delivery not an option?
  20. Has anyone had issues with this company? Here's what happened, I placed an order for 250 hooks on Friday the 11th at 7 am. Knowing Monday was a holiday I was hoping the package would be shipped that day. They charged me 12$ for ups ground! Finally Monday I received an email from hooks USA saying the package had shipped via ups. I live one state from them , and have been hawking the ups guy asking for my package. Finally today I checked my mail and got this. that's certainly not a ups package, and it did not cost 12$ to ship. Also it wasn't sent until Wednesday. I don't like anything about what this company did. I will not be ordering any more hooks from them, and I sent three emails and never recieved a response. Just a heads up! Rob
  21. That's really close to the walmart "Coleman" mosquito ne
  22. I bought a gallon of gst last month. I stored it in large 24 oz mason jars. I filled three jars and sealed them with a layer of aluminum foil because the gst eats through the red seal on the lids. I have dipped about 100 lures, three to four dips per lure, and only used about one inch of gst. The stuff will probably last forever, so 50$ is a good deal as far as I'm concerned.
  23. Actually I use hobby lobby 5 minute because it's cheap. I use bob smith 30 minute for topcoat.
