  1. I have mine stored in four ball canning jars, but it ate the rubber seal around the lid. So i put about 12 oz in a salsa jar and have had no issues with it hardening. Unlike DN it only seems to hardens when it contacts plastic. no bloxygen
  2. Yikes, It's been 100 degrees these past two days. I leave my lures in the boat. When I just checked them one had a spot pull up off the back. If I wanted to I could peel it back I'm sure! The bill from another lure was resting on that spot. I will see if leaving them inside helps recure them?
  3. I have used it on two balsa lures, and I am not 100% convinced its good for wood. It looks fantastic but after about six days it still feels just a bit soft. I fished them two days ago, caught fish banged the bottom and had no scratches but it just seems "soft" to me
  4. Before paint and four dips the spinner blade weighed 4.3 grams. It weighed 4.6 grams afterwards!
  5. Thanks for the tip, if I use createx red it doesn't bleed! But I think it was Anita's or folk art red.
  6. Never painted a blade before but I used craft paint. The red bled a bit, and I decided to try a buzz blade too. I will bang em around in a week and see how they hold up!
  7. Do you mean spinner bait blade? If so I will try it to see what happens.
  8. I used an old 1/32 0z round jig head mold. It has eight slots that are exactly the same. I used 1/4" drill bit and drilled out four slots.
  9. I let mine cure for a week now, they are hard as a rock. Fished them yesterday and had zero nicks. I am pleased now, but it sucks waiting for a week to use them!
  10. The lures look amazing! That's my thoughts, don't know anything about RTV silicone sorry.
  11. These lures are .30 cents! http://www.predatorbassbaits.com/id69.html?no_redirect=true
  12. I agree with prager, unpaintedlures.com has been my favorite kos by far. All swim correct and are good quality. Predatorbassbaits I believe sells some of his lures that have errors for cheap, if your just looking to practice painting them!
  13. I pour my own, from an old drilled out do it mold!
  14. FYI, I think the lip is bent more like on a spoon. Side to side bend and front to back. I like the pipe idea though!
  15. Day three of this stuff, this morning I put four lures on the deck of my boat to see if they would yellow. Two of the lures had cured for 24 hours and two had 48 hours of cure time. All four were stuck to the carpet when I got home a few minutes ago. Almost like Velcro, which left scuff marks on the sides of them. Also one lure that I dipped Saturday afternoon I can actually scrap the finish off with my finger nail, and my nails are short and weak, I can't stop biting them!!! I'm still wondring if this stuff is gonna work! BTW here's a pic of the lip I dipped, I hung it by the tail and some small chunks of yellow got on the lip. I'm scared to try and scratch it off,!its only been hanging for 24 hours.
  16. No, I've used d2t, etex, dn, and never had an issue with it. The pen I users from hobby lobby
  17. I've tried a few methods. Fine tip pen has been my final go to method. But I usually just write my last name on the lure. I have tried decal paper from hobby lobby, but it seemed to thick and looked funky. I tried a label maker with white paper and did not like that either.
  18. As far as how long I'm waiting, it's been super random. Like three dips in an hour, and three dips in two days! Ice not seen much difference in the results.
  19. I just dipped my first few lures on Saturday, but on Sunday I didn't smell any fumes. I'm still questioning some things. I've had a few bubbles on kos that I dipped. I'm trying to see what happens on raw balsa blanks to seal the wood. And I just dipped two balsa lures, to se how it looks. Definitely still learning, for sure. Thanks, Rob
  20. Just out of curiosity why five dips? It seems like after three my lures start looking like epoxy coats!
  21. I sprayed two lures, it was the first time I've ever sprayed a lure. They look fantastic, however the overspray was bad. And it wasted a lot of finish. I think dipping works just fine so probably will stick to that.
  22. I'm gonna try spraying a few, I have a cheapie spray gun from harbor freight that I could try it with!
