1. Hobby lobby, use the 40% off coupon.
2. When I first started I tried saving some money by trying every urethane product lowes and Home Depot sells. None worked to my liking, so I went to Hobby Lobby used a 40% off coupon and got some etex for 10$, built a turner out of an old microwave and have been happy with that, because of the easiness! I still try other topcoats, like d2t, bob smith, acc, dn, and now I am gonna try solarez! But I would start with etex or d2t to begin!
3. I just received mine yesterday, unfortunately the uv light won't arrive until tomorrow. It's 10 degrees here in Nebraska and I tried letting a test lure dry in the sun but it didn't work, it was really cloudy. I am going to try dipping also, my plan is to dip it, put it on the spinner for a few minutes, dab eye holes with a napkin or brush, then stick it under nail dryer. I will let you know how it goes! Rob
4. Microfibbets for fly tying work well
5. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Brent R" data-cid="195461" data-time="1356996119">
GE 18" (F15T8) black light......one of the members here turned me on to this one.....He says it works fine. I haven' t bought one yet.

where can you get that bulb?

Seal Coat

I seal my wood with super glue. I have used nail polish but it turns brown after a few months.
7. Unpaintedlures.com has some good kos
8. I ordered jr Hopkins video. He shows how to apply epoxy. He uses a syringe with da in it. Squirts just a little on the hinge pins to keep the joints from sticking.
9. I tried the spray the netting trick. It works really well, after the adhesive dries it still stays tacky! Thanks for the tip
10. For what it's worth, I just got an email from FedEx saying the package just got shipped out today!
11. Well I contacted solarez and was told some info. According to them, the nail dryers will not work. Apparently only the flashlight they sell will do the job! They order them straight from Hong Kong and emit 385 nm, of uv light. They didn't even know if my order was shipped yet, apparently they were out and are mixing up a new batch!
12. How long does it take to get? I ordered some 9 days ago, I live in nebraska! Maybe they closed for the holidays?
13. For me the most important tool I have is my bandsaw. It cuts lip slots perfectly, and that's what I had the hardest time with when I first started!
14. This is 3 by 3 block of balsa. I want to cut it into 1/4" strips. Which way should I cut to make it with the grain? Thanks
15. My only advise is to seal with super glue, but it at hobby lobby with 40% off coupon. Use thin brand
16. I cut the bill when the block is still square like in the pic, with a band saw. I just bend the wire because every bait is a bit different, so a jig won't work too well.
17. I hold the two pieces together with blue two sided duck tape from Walmart. Then cut oiyline sand lure, then pull apart. i like doing two halves because there is no guessing where the center of the lure is and they swim dang near perfect every time.
18. I buy from them too! They have been the best swimming ko's I have found. Yes the bills seem to be scuffed. But I dip them in dick nites and the bills look like glass afterwards!
19. I buy my balsa from hobby lobby. The lure on the top is made from a 3"x3" block that I cut into 1/4" sections. The one on the bottom is made from 1/4" blocks that are already cut by hobby lobby. The top lure is much harder and darker, the bottom one sands like butter and is much lighter colored! Why the difference? Is it because the 1/4" wood has dried out more? If I cut the larger block and let it dry would it be softer? Thanks, Rob
20. Sorry CLM, I didn't read the post right! And mine comes off with chunks missing too Rico
21. It does not have an adhesive back! It is thin foil with a plastic cover over the to that peels off, and its very thin. It needs to be glued down then the plastic film pulled off, the hard part is getting the foil not to pull off when removing the plastic cover
22. I bought mine on Craigslist for 40$. It works fine for me.
