  1. I probably made about 20 swimbaits, of which none of them swam right, prior to buying the DVD. The first one I built after watching it, swims great. The paint job was not so great! I will post a pic. Rob
  2. Here are my thoughts on it. I was thinking of building one a couple months ago, asked on here and got a couple responses. I don't think too many people build them! But I bought a couple plastic blanks and looked at howthey are weighted. Here is what I plan on doing. I will build it out of pvc. It will be cut in half, and drilled out in the upper rear section so I can add rattles. The weight needs to be very low in the lure and run from. the lip til about the hook hanger. However, I have never tried to build one, but I will eventually and that's how I will start! Rob
  3. Got the dvd in the mail last night! I have watched it 3 times already, great video! Thanks John
  4. I have only done about 20 lures with the BS 30 min epoxy! I have noticed that the finish has a slightly yellow tint to it! The resin is really yelow in the bottle, is that normal? I know etex yellows, because I had some for a year and it appeared to get yellower! Did I just buy an old bottle? Thanks Rob
  5. Well I just bought it, I can't wait to watch it. The order says it comes with a pre cut blank that's ready to carve. Is the blank a swimbait blank? Or a crankbait? Thanks
  6. Did you oreder the lure and dvd combo? I am looking at getting it!
  7. Wd-40 works for catfishing. I heard it was an urban legend that they use fish oils in it. But it does work!
  8. I think all my lures are camoflauged! The fish can't even see em!
  9. Jonestones.com, is a decent holographic foil.
  10. Honestly.....no trouble at all. Unfortnately I can not type on my phone, as fast as I would like too. So a lot of my posts don't translate to well when I type them. Really not a problem and best ofluck to you
  11. No! I am not sure how big the bottles of paint are. I am guessing 8 oz. I mix the future and distilled water in a plastic cup 60% furture shine and 40% distilled water. I pour all the paint into the plastic ketchup bottle then add the mixture of water/shine until it is aout like milk. I put a piece of panty hose over the top and screw the tap on. You can get future shine at Walmart and everything else to. All the paints are a bit differwnt so you kinda just estimate!
  12. I did not mean water reducer, sorry I mix the whole bottle of paint in the clear squeeze bottle with a mixture of 60% future shine and 40% distilled water. I add the mixture to the paint until it is the consistancy of milk.
  13. I stopped by Harbor Freight yesteday and bought some safety wire pliers. They went back to Harbor Freight after work. They did nothing that a pair of vise grips won't do. I am sure they work well for bigger jobs, but for tying jigs it was overkill and they were difficult to use. JMO Rob
  14. I have never used Gradys devcon. However I have used Etex and Bob Smiths that has yellowed. I could not tel a difference on the finished baits.

Use whatever you aregoing to use as a topcoat. Etex, devcon, DN. I use etex to seal my wood and I use it as a topcoat also!
  16. I have never usedthose pliers. Do you wrap the wire by hand, then use the pliers too twist?
  17. I like it. But, it is difficult to get a real smooth surface to paint. So I apply 1 coat of etex prior to painting. It is good because you can check to see if the bait swims properly before going through the whole paint process!
  18. The company I bought mine from is a member on this site. I am hoping they will chime in and give a reason why thy would tape the lips prior to mailing them. BTW I never fished with the lures, they would not swim at all!
  19. I bought the Bob Smith 30 minute epoxy and weighed both 9oz bottles seperately on a gram scale. The resin weighed about 180grams and the hardener weighed about 150 grams. So when I mix it up to coat 4 or 5lures I mix 24 grams of resin with 20 grams of hardener. Itcomes out perfect every time. I also add about 4 drops of DA after mixing. Once I put the lures on the dryer I turn the blow dryer on each lure for about 10 seconds each and have had no problems. I know it is supposed to be measured by volume, but if you buy a cheap gram scale it makes the process fool proof. IMO
  20. I have! They were the 2.5 KO's.
  21. I have bought some 4$ KOs and the RC stick is not the same as the cheap KOs.
