  1. I have found at Hobby Lobby that if I buy the 3"x 3"x 12" block of basa that the wood is much harder than the wood that comes in 1/2" or 1" strips. I just cut down the big block on my table saw. You get way more wood from the big blocks!
  2. Thanks fellas, from now on I will tape the lipsas soon as I get them, never thought of that for some reason. And will try the DA since I already have some. These are for me so I am not overly concerned how they look. Rob
  3. I only bought 10 from janns, and these were my last 2 so I decided to use them. Any advie on removing the glue? I a thinking either goo gone? Or just putting some etex over it. Will eitherwork? BTW I love the lips!
  4. No problems but I flush it with a syringe full of water before filling with paint! I use etex for topcoat.
  5. Thanks everyone for the advise. I have been practicing and have found a way that works for me! I start by painting the lightest colors first. After each color I dump the paint out. Backflush twice with water, backflush with Windex Anti Bacterial. And then use a syringe without a needle to shoot waterdown into the cup ad needle. Its been workng good so far. Rob
  6. Thank you Dick Nite. I figured it had to do with the discount. If I had any pacients I would order some right now. But I am gonna wait until the new site is up! Looking forward to trying your product.
  7. Walmart sells them!!!! And craigslist, buy an old microwave! A couple clamps and some wood will make aturner!
  8. Good question, I only build 2" bass baits out of balsa and PVC. I cut my wires about 3/4 of an inch. I feel very confident the PVC will hold that, the balsa makes me nervous. I would us.e PVC for a swimbait, if that is an option

These are the first two crankbaits that I have made, that I felt comfortable showing on TU. I have made about 100 but they haven't come out so well.........I ain't no rtist for sure. They are 2" long, and made from balsa! Thanks Rob
  10. That's an easy answer. Its not right!

  12. I bought a digital scale at harbor freight for 8$. It has made a huge difference in the topcoat.

    Bass Skin

In the hardbait gallery? I don't see it. Rob
  15. Sorry for ranting here. I am guessing, the reason you have to get an invoice via paypal, is because he gives TU members a discount. Which is a very good jesture, and I applaud that! I should have just kept my mouth shut, so I appologize for offending DN or any TU members. Rob
  16. Honestly for a while I really wanted to try DN. But ordering it was royal PITA. So I decided not to. Papal is really a nice thing to have on a website. Im not sure why a buyer has to email the company requesting an invoice. I am s ure DN has a reason, but its just inconvenient.
  17. Nope, I have adult a d d. So I just forgot about it, and decided to stick with etex.
  18. Good luck! I sent them 3 emails last month, and never got an invoice. Rob
  19. Its funny you posted this. I just found a website with some custom balsa baits, and was printing out copies to make stencils. I only build lures for myself, but if i was mass producing and selling I would feel bad. But I don't!

    Recipe Needed

25$ an ounce? Holy canoli! And I thought createx was expensive!
  21. Put a coat of epoxy over the lure, after you put the foil on. Then paint. Nevermind! I can't read
  22. try this http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/23442-e-tex-and-dye/
  23. I build a lot of balsa baits. And the main reason some of my baits run on their side is the lip is just slightly off 90 degrees. How are you cutting your lip slot? 1 degree off makes a huge difference. Also the ballast has to be right in the center of the lure body. Rob
  24. Way to go, I made mine from a work microwave that the door broke! It was free. Just attatced a 15" broom handle to it and some aligator clips. Been runnin for a year like that.
