Maybe that's why mine won't work. Thanks Pancho
  2. Mark, great pics. I was just gonna pm you and ask for a pic. I tried it your way and could not get them to swim upright. I think I was not using enough weight. But I cut a small slit with my exacto knife, on the inside of the rtv mold, right in the middle. And put the eye of the hook in it and hung the hook like you said. And wow it swims good. Thanks Rob
  3. I have a question about whether or not lead will react negatively with plastic. I am melting the plastic and pouring over the lead and hook. Will the plastic become discolored? Thanks to Mark, I got my swimbait mold down. Rob
  4. From past experience, it is easier to just order pre cut lips from jannsnetcraft. I tried making my own and spent about 10 times what it costs from janns. Rob
  5. I am extremely new at this, so feel free to backhand me for suggesting this......but, I like to color aluminum tape with sharpies, and then cut out designs with an exacto knife and just stick it on the bait. It works great for gills and stripes. Rob
  6. Ok, where can you buy them? Thanks
  7. LOL.......I guess that's why there is no video on the mold making. Still a great job on the molds thoug. Rob
  8. Hillbilly, great video. About a year ago, I decided I wanted to start making my own lures and ran across your video on youtube. And I thought wow, that looks really easy.......holy cow wasi wrong. However you made your molds is very impressive. Some day it would be great if you made avideo on how you made the molds!!!!!! Thanks

  10. Hi all, I am pretty new to pouring, and have been trying to make some pop molds with very little success. So I am going to give rtv a shot. But where in the world do I buy it? What brandand type works the best? I am going to attempt to make a swimbait, stickbait and jig trailers. Thanks Rob
  11. Dave, great video, and the music was top notch. Thanks for posting it. Rob
  12. I am very new at this. But this is what I do. I get a white label sticker, paint it whatever color you want the eyes to be. Use a hole punch, and stick it to the lure. Then use a nailhead for the pupil.
  13. Thanks Mark, I originally was using Gorilla glue, which expanded andmade a huge mess. Then I tried some cheap Walmart SUPER glue that did not hold. But I tried Gorilla Super Glue that does not expand, and that sems to work. Thanks
  14. Hello all, quick question. What type of glue do you guys use on twisted wire hangers and the bill on your pvc crankbaits? I have tried the search but only find wood glue reslts. Rob
  15. I totally apologize for hijacking the post, but what kind of glue do you guys use for twisted screws on pvc? I have been using gorilla glue but it expands and makes a huge mess. Rob
  16. Can someone tell me where I can buy some? I am cheap and can't see spending 10-30 on a lure, so a push towads a website that sells unpainted megabass knockoffs would be appreciated. Rob
  17. On the home page, there is a section with Member Submitted tutorials, like this one http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/12000-photo-finishing-foil-and-faux-finishes/page__pid__85253#entry85253

    Screws

I use PVC as well, I like it because I can shape it, and throwb it in the tub and test the action without having to worry about sealing it first. You can buy it at Lowes and Home depot. I believe its namebrand is aztek(maybe). Lowes in NE has it up to 1" thick, which I like better. HD only has 3/4". Rob
  19. Bobv, I did notice that it worked if reeled in really slow. But it was hard to reel that slow.....
  20. Ok, I put a split ring on and that seems too have solved the problem. But, if anyone has any more advise please let me know. I live in Omaha so the temp is 32 and the wind is blowing about 20 mph. So needless to say I only threw the bait about 5 times and got back in the truck......but here's my setup. I was using 50 lb power pro. Photofinished lure, size 6 trebles and have 3 coats of etex. Would the power pro have a huge effect on the lure action? Thanks
  21. I have tried adjusting the line tie....and the baits are the ones with the screw in bottom. 4 of them had 3 large bbs, and one I put in some lead shot. But I just painted over the screw in so I may have to unscrew em all and try em with more weight. Thanks for the input. Rob
  22. I did have the hooks on em. Sould I try one of the oval swivels on the line tie? Every other lureworked fine, except the 2.5, I don't get it.
  23. First off, my name is Rob, and I have been lurking for a fews months and really appreciate all the help fellow members here have offered. So thanks everyone. But my question is about the LC 2.5 knockoffs from predator baits. I bought 5 of them painted em up and noneswim even close to normal. They come in about 5 feet and stat going in circle. Do I need to do something or is it the lure. I did notice predator baits is not selling any right now while they change the lip style. Any suggestions? Thanks Rob

    New Here.

Mike, I kinda laughed when I read your post because we are in the exact same boat. I just started painting baits also, and bought 20 from predator bass baits. I also bought the hrbor freight 15$ airbrush, which after returning the first one because the trigger broke, has worked very good on my first few baits. I also bought the Plaid craft paint at Hobby Lobby and some colrs work great, and some look horrible. I bought 2 bottles of Chartreuse Creatix, and it definetly shoots and looks better than the craft stuff, but both work. I have found I like to glue the bill in first, I just tape the bill while painting and remove it prior to final coat of etex. Also, I have been using my dads bbq rotisseri which works great, but yesterday I found a broken microwave and removed the motor, attatched it to a metal bracket and ran a broom handle to another bracket, and that actually runs better. Like I said I am completely new to this so hopefully the pros will help you out. BTW thanks to everyone on TU for helping me and others get started. Rob
