  1. the two piece action gives more of an s action, the tighter the joint usually makes the bait S more. If you look at a wide swimbait like a slammer, the bill resistance and the tail really kicks because the joints are really far apart, the two piece of an S waver is really tight and has a lot more of an s action. Hope this helps a little bit.
  2. I agree completely with frank. i have made swimbaits from resin and it is a grueling process. My first one i made i was so excited, to try out and learned my bait swam sideways. In my opinion i would separate the two piece lures individually. make a mold for each piece as i have tried both ways. Although it may seem more expensive because it requires more silicone, it delivers more consistency than making a one piece mold and then cutting the resin. As far as resins go, i have used Alumilite and Taps plastic so i can only speak on those products. Alumilite is heavier and taps plastic is more buoyant. I keep a record log of how much microballoons, weight, i use when i pour, so i can get a more consistent action.
  3. It depends what color you are trying to use and make pop IMO. Black is a good base color, and using a color that contrast really makes the scale pattern pop out. Not sure what your exact question is but i use a netting that has bigger holes than fine mesh and i really like the look of it. here is a sample of reference to show what i do, black base, place the netting over and gator clip the netting as tight as possible, and then i use a semi opaque white over the top and try not to overpaint with the white. Hope this helps!
  4. I use a bandsaw for the initial cut, a dremel, and then a small file to exact my cut. I use epoxy to glue my bills in.
  5. Hey guys, im new to the forum. I have been building swimbaits for about 4 years, and my opinion is the bigger the easier to work with and tweak. Having to do the jointing on a small bait is extremely difficult. Jointing would be my biggest concern on a bait that small. My general rule for building a swimbait is that where the head of the bait goes, the body and the tail will follow. Usually i will make the head portion heavier than the body or tail, by making it bigger or adding a weight. hope this helps!
