  1. In addition to what BobP said....I have found that painting aeresols on to metal or lead seems to take a lot longer to cure than it does when painting wood or plastic. I would think that an acrylic or latex paint with a durable epoxy clear would be your best bet. Also sticking with the same brands and NOT mixing, is great advice....or you tend to get the seperation or "crackle" effect and paint seems to NEVER cure/dry. Good Luck
  2. OK...judging by what I've read here and a few other sites, I'm going with the IWATA HP-CS Gravity fed....I hope its the right choice! Thanks for all the info everyone!! ~Paul
  3. I assumed the Eclipse HP-CS has a standard cup size....I don't see a size option for the cup in my catalogue???
  4. I want to order a new airbrush..... Here are my choices...I'd like to seal the deal today!! - Paasche Talon gravity fed - $125.34 - Iwata Eclipse HP-BS or CS grav. fed - $152.70 - Iwate Revolution CR - $124 - Badger Velocity grav. fed - $132.82 And there is a company called "Grex" that I never heard of...any experiences with it anyone? I think I'll stick to the ones with better reps above....recommendations please! Thank in advance guys...
  5. Welcome to the age of instant gratification and the internet! The sense of appreciation, hard work and taking pride of all you have accomplished through much time, trial and error is somewhat gone and lost. Its much like fishing itself and all that time and effort we put in to find the hot-spots and techniques which work best....now all the info is right at the tips of your fingers within the comfort of your home...hmmmm A true change that society has gone through in recent years which has its pros and cons.....what will happen when we (the folks who survived before the internet) are gone?? Something to ponder.
  6. A lot of great info there Bob...Thanks!....since I already have a siphon, maybe I should go with a gravity fed for the detail work. Appreciate the help and advice. ~Paul
  7. Also looking for the best online source for lure making supplies....preferably for larger crankbaits....Again thanks.... wondering why I can't edit my previous posts???? Have no choice but to keep re-posting....sorry
  8. Also looking for a place to get fish scale netting somewhere online....doing some searches so far and not having much success....thanks!
  9. Hello all....I'm embarking on a new endevor, LUREMAKING, and some friends recommended this site for any questions I may have and great info. Awesome site, by the way! I'm keying mostly on muskie baits since I'm an avid muskie fisherman and considering the prices of the lures these days! Anyway, I have been experimenting with the airbrush for the last few weeks and found myself enjoying it immensely....even found it quite addicting! Also attached some of my first baits (as you can see, having some issues with overspray/spatter) Currently using a Paasche VL...I think my main problem is the tip has some corrosion and cracks in it from long term storage. I have just been experimenting with Createx Latex - opaque paints for now, but looking into getting some of the Auto-Air.....any experiences with this stuff?? Any better recommendations.....for cedar wood lures, sealed and base coated white. I'm also looking into an airbrush....I'm kinda leaning toward the siphon feed airbrush so I can mix larger quatanties of paint and store them and re-use them. Or would you rather recommend I get the gravity feed? I can afford either or. Any comments or recommendations would be terrific and thank you in advance!! Excited to be here! ~Paul
  10. Heres one I did the other day... -white base coat - florescent yellow side (light) - brown top and bars - drk green top or black - aqua gill with optional black dot - gold scale finish
