  1. You need very high pressures and temperatures to form tungsten powder into whatever shapes you need. Not worth the investment in that type of machinery.
  2. Like mentioned above, talc will work as it allows the lead to flow easier into the cavities. I also add tin to my lead along with anthimony to make it more rigid especially when pouring spinner baits. Tin will make it more fluid. The venting is also another option. It might create a little flash, but I would rather have that than incomplete pours. Try a small jewellers file to scratch a vent.
  3. slow down your pour if you can. Its also cooling too fast. Is your mold heated up when you start your pouring?
  4. Try switching your lead to maybe a linotype lead. The tin thats within the lead will help your pours become more filled with very few shorts. Its also a lot tougher than pure lead and will be harder to clean up any flash. To solve your wire issues, try using a sharp steel punch and gently tapthe mold on either side of the wire until you find its a tight fit.
  5. Thanks for the link and sorry for the delayed reply. I'm not usuing my usual computer because my hard drive stopped working and don't really feel like buying another computer, so its my cell for now. I'll check cncmolds out and hopefully i will be able to do some business with them.
  6. I've had over 20 molds made by Shawn and he won't return any of my emails for other molds I would like to have made. Don't know why he won't answer them. Never bargained on his prices as they are great pricing. Even asked him if I pissed him off and get no replies. Time to find another source.
  7. You can also place your mold on top of your furnace as its heating to bring it up to proper working temps. Its all in the venting as the other guys have mentioned.
  8. The lead I mentioned is linotype and its 84% lead, 12% antimony and 4% tin. Very fluid and fills nicely even in small jig molds.
  9. If you can get access to some printers lead, grab as much as you can. Its considered more of a lead alloy because of the additives in it as its approximately 75-80% lead and pours very smooth. Its also much tougher than pure lead and it will harden much tighter around any hooks or wires. I use this stuff for my spinner biats and tiny 1/16 oz crappy shad head tubes. I think its called linotype lead but will have to check for sure when I get on my work computer and get back to you on this.
  10. Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to give Hook solutions a call or email and see what is needed by them to produce some molds. I've inquired about some molds made over seas and they would be produced in stainless steel which will be too heavy for handling a all day typr pour. Cost is great, but wait time really sucks. Delmart says they wont take any new mold jobs until after the new year, and this is the pouring season for me and would be nice to pour now. Lol.
  11. Does anyone here know if HI tech molds are still in business? I've been trying to get in touch to have some jig molds made and get no replies. Its tough trying to find a custom mold shop . Delmart is not taking any work until after the new year and Collins is finished. thanks for any info guys.
  12. I am now having contact issues as well and if anyone could direct me to someone who can manufacture aluminum molds would be greatly appreciated. I normally supply a sample and had S.C. make them but now he is impossible to get in touch with. thanks in advance.
  13. You can always go to your local hard ware store with your air brush and fit a screw to it, or just order one directly from Paasche.
  14. I've talked on the phone with Shawn as well and he is getting back at the molds again. I recieved my mold shortly after he came back and am now in the process of getting 5 more. If you have any issues of not getting product, email him or call him directly. I'm sure you pay him by credit card and credit card companies have to protect their customers. They can help you out if it becomes neccessary.
  15. He did mention he is redoing a new web site, so we just have to wait and see. Hopefully he will continue as I've yet to find anyone who does the same quality work.
