  1. This is close to what I do, break down bulk plastic into qrts that are labeled by mold configuration. Because so much of my work is custom ( quantities of 30-50) I pre-mix only two base colors without flake, learned the hard way it doesn't pay to put flake in until ordered because..... see Murphy's law. I would agree with the earlier post in that in small amounts it's just as fast to heat up from scratch, but having those two colors already mixed in bulk has saved me valuable time on rush orders for retailers plus it's consistant in color, add flake and pour. My way of thinking might be skewed also by the fact that I'm a creature of habit and it may only be psychological that it saves me time.

I have someone who probably can do it for you but he isn't cheap on the other hand if you can supply some of the information and save them some time it should reduce your cost. The quality of work is incredible due to the fact they're proto type mfgs in the medical industry ie replacement joints etc.. PM if you want the info.
  3. ^^^^^^LOL ......and the Pope is my dad
  4. If you don't mind my asking off topic a bit, how does that Cajun hold up to heat? I was told it didn't very well. I have a very limited use app for it and was considering giving it a try.
  5. That's what I meant, I believed what I was told...end Before it costs anyone else thousands of dollars believing they're making the mods necessary to avoid infringement and have molds made. Spend the money on a patent attorney before doing anything and get an understanding of how the law applies. Wish I had.
  6. Source informed me that RI got sued and lost $300K over the Vixen hence paycheck is producing. Prior to the ICAST they were still litigating with Strike King. I got the letter, LOL, the cost of the letter from their attorney was greater than the amount of royalty that would've been paid. One thing I did learn via a patent attorney was that the XX% myth is just that a myth, has nothing to do with how the law is wrote. The attorney actually laughed when I told him the value of the product.....has me thinking.
  7. I use braid on a spinning reel for drop shot exclusively, allows me to feel everything on the bottom, I've found a lot of small structure deep because of this. The braid will act like a sail in a cross wind and you'll get a bow in your line, I always position myself to cast with or against the wind with braid. The older it gets the better, becomes even more limp and casts farther. Set your drag accordingly, rods are rated for mono not braid therefore if your knots are good the weak link in your equipment becomes your rod because the braid won't break something will have to give and it's usually the rod. Last I use braid in applications where hook setting power is imperative, in drop shotting the rod does not have the hook setting back bone of a pool cue so what hook set you do get the braid will allow it all to go to the hook point since it doesn't stretch. Bear in mind that because of the "no-stretch" there is always the possibility of the hook point "egging" or "tearing" free, a hazard of the line but worth it.
  8. Let me clarify, my issue is that I haven't attempted to heat a pop (guess I will today), I don't cold mold pour ( unless I'm feeling lazy LOL ). I read this thread initially to discover wether or not anyone was heating their pop molds and what temp.
  9. I do a lot of clipping constantly, generally trying to arrive at a bait that combines the best attributes of up to 3-4 of the same configuration, thank goodness for mend it. From there the prototype is developed and then poured. I don't make a lot of pop because I pour mostly laminates and use heat. POP only allows me to pour single colors BORING. One thing for pop since I'm making it they're always user friendly, I've purchased several aluminums that to me had designe flaws mostly in how the plastic was allowed to flow.
