  1. Ah ha. That's an even better plan. Thanks smalljaw!
  2. Anyone know if a Mustad 91768 will fit in the new Do It FBB-4T-ASU? I'm not afraid of convincing it to fit with the Dremel.
  3. That 886 looks very similiar to the Venom Lures 4" shad. The tail of that bait is what i'm really looking for, but in a 3.5" size. Any idea if that 886 is the same bait? Do you have any experience with that Venom shad?
  4. http://www.lurecraft.com/catalog.cfm/molds/plastic-molds/swim-baits/5x351:796 That one?
  5. Does anyone pour the Lurecraft 5x351 mold? If so...could i possibly beg some good pics? I don't want to know any of your secret colors or anything. I'm really, really interested in the depth of the belly of the bait and how the tail attaches to the body, right at the tail. I'm looking for a swimbait to use as a swimjig trailer that has an extreme angle between the paddle and the body.
  6. Too cool man! Just took a look at your blog. That brush hog looks like it'll be a sweet bait! Hope you get it figured out. I don't know much about injection plastic molding, but would air channels help any? I'll definitely keep checking out your blog. Looks like some good stuff! I'll shoot you an email here in a few so i've got your email address stored.
  7. lol Man, i don't know if you want to open that door! I'm currently deployed, but i should be home in about a month. The mold i want made is pretty simple, and making samples of what i want is no problem at all. Can i send you an email so we can stay in touch?
  8. Hey pokerhitman...Have you made any jig head molds? I'm relatively new to the custom lure world myself, and i don't know anyone locally who does CNC work nor do i have any idea what all is involved. If i were to go to a shop to have a custom CNC mold made, what should i expect to pay? Would i just need to provide samples of what i want machined? Thanks!
  9. I do have a design that is new and original, and catches the fire out of largemouth and smallmouth. What's the best way to get it out there? Wait until i get a big inheritence from someone in the family and pour it into a name and marketing and lawyers?
  10. So how does one go about marketing and selling a one-off bait? I realize it will probably be snagged and marked by the big names. But how do you even get something on the market? Is it worth just taking the idea to a big name and hoping they pay you for it? If this has already been discussed ad naseum, my appologies. FNG here!
  11. I used an 1/8" base hole pin, cut down to be just long enough to touch the head cavity. I only cut one down, but i should cut one for each cavity size. As you change cavity sizes, you need a different length pin. But i just cut off the excess if it's too short, or just deal with a small dimple if it's too long. I also experimented with using JB Weld to plug up the base pin hole all together. I used the clay bar mix type of JB Weld because i was in a "hurry" (read: i'm impatient) because it advertised it would be usably cured in 60 minutes. It worked reasonably well. Some of the plugs got loose after 50 or so jigs. I'm going to re-do this with the regular two-part JB Weld and see how that does. It says it withstands heat to 500 degress...even if it lasts up to 100 jigs before it breaks down, i'd be happy.
