  1. I use slow setting epoxy for wraps and cork rings. Good luck. Musky Glenn
  2. For my personal use, I just hold with needle nose pliers at the end that has hole. I paint both sides and hang on wire hook to dry them. The small spot on the end that doesn't get paint doesn't bother me as I usually scratch them with the split ring anyway. Musky Glenn
  3. Seeking 56, Look for the one with the highest percentage of polyurethane in it. Musky Glenn
  4. Looks a lot better than my first repaired broken rod. Congratulations. Musky Glenn
  5. Nothing like fishing with a rod you built your self. It's really hard to beat "big box" prices so there has to be another reason for going to the trouble of building your own rod. You can buy all the fancy gadgets to turn the rod and apply the finish or you can learn to turn by hand and have very little in tools. A kit is a great way to start. It is hard to tell how a rod is going to feel before it is built. The blank won't feel anything like it does after you add all the hardware. Ceramic eyes really vary in price. I have had great success with the cheaper "hardloy" grade of eyes. Never had a problem with them. Musky Glenn
  6. The first rod I ever did this way, I used a short piece of broom handle, bored a hole two inches deep and epoxied the rod in. Lasted for years. Taped the spinning reel on Tennessee style. Musky Glenn
  7. Move the lever, twist the cover one way or the other. It should turn about a quarter turn and pull straight out. I have had them be very hard to twist. Musky Glenn
  8. I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the first thing I do with a lure that has a feather is to strip the hook of all feathers. It just seems to me it really dampens the action. Maybe that is why my dry flies didn't do much good. Musky Glenn
  9. Rod wrapping nylon thread works well, You can find it at Bass Pro or Mud Hole. Coat with clear finger nail polish and good to go. Many colors available but hard to beat a little splash of the red color thread.
  10. Google Balsa Wood suppliers and you will find a bunch of businesses selling balsa
  11. Just wondering which blade manufacture has the best shine on a gold blade. Thanks for saving me money having to shop around and maybe still not fine the best. Musky Glenn
  12. It's hard to tell if it is 3/4" long or 3" long. Dimension's might help. I tend to agree with Mark Poulson in that it looks more like a machine part of some type like the lever on an automatic fly reel. Just my sorry $.02 worth. Musky Glenn
  13. I have a question about "good quality". What characteristics are we seeking to be good quality. 1. Price 2. Amount of shine 3. Durability For me it is all about the amount of shine a blade has and will keep with out rusting. I usually buy from Lure parts on line and they have a regal line of blades that have more shine than their other line of blades, but they cost more. Do Worth blades have the most shine (gold blades) of other companies. Can't really tell by a picture on a web site. Thanks for all your help over the years. Musky Glenn
  14. I have had good luck with Badger paints, but they are kind of hard to find in my area. I use a lot of opaque paints just depends on pattern. Musky Glenn
  15. They also make straight wire shafts with the eye already on one end. Use that end for the line tie end and hide the home made eye under the skirt. ROUND nose pliers are the way to go for bending big wire. Musky Glenn
  16. You could do it with a router bit with the bearing on the end of the bit. You would need a thick pattern like 3/4 inch solid wood so the bottom of the bearing would still clear the table. Double surface tape the lexan to the 3/4 wood and follow the wood trimming the lexan as you go. You would need a base plate with a small hole the size of the bit, to stay on the lexan. You would probably need to cut lexan on band saw to get to close size then trim to exact size with router. You could stack several with double surface tape, but I believe you would get some movement on the top layers. Musky Glenn
  17. Now that is pulling a boat in style! Musky Glenn
  18. 3/4 oz. times 1000 equals 750 oz. divided by 16 oz per pound equals 47 lb of lead at $.25 per pound equals $11.25 for lead. Musky Glenn
  19. Ichthus, are you cutting the joint while you still have flat sides before you cut the lure to shape? Musky Glenn
  20. Fishnart, Hope that little tip helps. It's always nice to share an idea, never know who it might help. Musky Glenn
  21. Thanks for the email address Fatman. Musky Glenn
  22. Fishnart, that is a new one on me. Great looking lure. Musky Glenn
  23. I took a plastic coffee can, punched a hole in the side near the top so that my air brush fits tightly and spray into the closed can. It has a vent hole in the top. Works for me and no over spray. Musky Glenn
  24. If the bodies are resin, could you modify the mold so the holes are formed during the pouring. There fore the holes are already there when the part comes out of the mold. Musky Glenn
