  1. It just seems like some really good musky lures have some sorry paint jobs. Musky Glenn
  2. Sometimes you can find them in bargin bins a little cheaper. Great lures, love the crawfish in the fall of the year. Musky Glenn
  3. Any body remember the " Hog Stick" from a few years ago. As usual discontinued. Musky Glenn
  4. Looks like you did a good job of cleaning. Did you have any trouble getting the spool to engage with the clicker? We'll get it worked out. Musky Glenn
  5. Imagine, I haven't tried it that way, but from the use of shrink tubing on bucktails I don't believe it has the strength to hold it away from the body like it seems it would. Plus you would have to run it down the shank of the hook some and this makes a big black object, unless they make shrink tubing in some color other than black. Teeing the hooks does work. When you bend the hooks into tee shape bend the points under a little so they won't touch the body of the hook as they swing. Musky Glenn
  6. JBlaze, Those look great and really don't need anything to improve them. If you ever want to end up with a lure that goes to a point instead of blunt on the end, take a Parting tool and extend the final diameter straight on out past each end of the lure body. When you cut off at the end of this extension you will have material to sand to the desired tapered end design. I have seen videos on Youtube that shows how to taper to sharp point and cut it off in your hand while the lathe is still running. I never had the guts to try that.. Musky Glenn
  7. Muskiestalker, I sent you a private message. Congratulations on the 30". This has been one of the slowest years of my musky fishing. So far I only have one musky of 29", caught way back in April. Musky Glenn
  8. I had trouble finding a schematic by that foot number. It looks like your reel doesn't have the black bar with the two springs, yours engages a different way I believe. It shows to have a dog gear for the anti reverse. Are you sure the two brass sides of it straddles the gear on the handle shaft. The dog gear sits on a pin on the round plate and can be hard to align with gear when you slide gears on the brass shaft. I usually fit it to the gear and as I slide the gear set onto the brass shaft, I make sure the dog gear is still on the gear as it goes onto the pin in the round plate. Any way you could post a few photo's of the problem and stack of gear parts. If you would rather, Send it to me and I will put it back if I can, no charge. Musky Glenn
  9. Just checking out a few things, Is the notch in the pinion gear facing the spool? The bar that has the two springs that disengage the pinion turned correctly, springs should go on last.
  10. Muskiestalker, Without the shaft installed the pinion gear will feel very bad.
  11. Muskiestalker, The brakes work by rubbing on the ends when they slide out to hit the retaining ring they are set inside. There should be some clearance between the brake and the bottom of the race way. The reel not turning makes me wonder if your reel has anti reverse gear or if it is the older style that has the anti reverse dog gear. If the handle will turn backwards some then check the dog gear to make sure it straddles the gear that activates anti reverse. This dog gear can be put in backwards and not work. If it has the anti reverse ball bearing that won't allow the handle to turn backwards any, check all the stack of parts that are on the handle shaft, might have something there that isn't stacked correctly. These are some of the easier reels to work on but they can be cranky once in a while. Keep us informed and we should be able to get you through it. Just don't force parts. Musky Glenn
  12. Could it be the deep cup type? Musky Glenn
  13. Usually it is the two break blocks that slide on the wire shaft. They get moved to the ends of the wire and won't go inside the spool. Slide them as close together as they will go and give it another try. The other thing that happens sometimes is the tension cap gets screwed on to far and won't let the spool axle go in far enough. Back the tension cap way off until you get the side screws attached. Hope this helps. Musky Glenn
  14. You can buy spools of the lumiflex thread at Supreme Corp. 325 Spencer Rd. Conover, NC 888-604-6975 I took a wire coat hanger and bent it into a goal post design with the upright bars apart the distance I wanted the length of my skirt to be. Then I chuck up the post into my drill and spin on how ever many strands I need for each skirt. Tie in the middle then cut the ends loose from uprights. It's easier than it sounds. Musky Glenn
  15. The bass ain't bad either! Musky Glenn
  16. When I think of a glide bait, I think of a sinking lure that will walk the dog under water. To that end, I can't think of a factory made two part lure that is designed to do that. I could have forgotten about some but all mine are one part. Musky Glenn
  17. We only had half a dozen all evening. I'm nearly sick of candy. Musky Glenn
  18. True story side bar. The type of spray gun that we used to apply concrete sealer to a concrete floor was actually a garden sprayer. You know pump up weed killer type. Just saying. Musky Glenn
  19. Ethel It's the big one!!!!!
  20. Everyone has the right to get the best finish they can and it won't always be the same material for each of us. I only finish lures for myself and I am easy to please. When I found that epoxy would do what I wanted if I did my job, I quit looking for something better. I'm sure it's out there but so is the next musky. For me I'm not reinventing the wheel to find something that works better than something that is good enough for me. I hope you can find a finish that you can apply that gives the results you desire. Got a phone # for that massuse. lol
  21. Ben, Don't you just hate it when something simple doesn't turn out that way. Seems like my life story. Musky Glenn
  22. If you have a sturdy work bench, you might be able to lay one of the disc on bench, lay jig on top of disc and take a drift punch of correct size and sit it on the top side of jig, hit with hammer to dint jig. would eliminate having to heat jig. Good luck. Musky Glenn
  23. If you can do 40 per hour, that may be hard to beat in your case. At least you have something to do during all the commercials on tv any more. Musky Glenn
