  1. I live in Marion, NC and gas here is $3.79 per gallon. Took $79.00 to fill up my f150 yesterday. 15 miles per gallon and I have to watch how much traveling I do so that I can make a lot of short runs to the lake. I am lucky enough that I can fish waters close enough that I can get 3-4 trips out of a 6 gallon tank with the boat. Musky Glenn
  2. Some Createx paints will spray without thinning. If it will spray through a spray gun, don't thin. I just use well water to thin with and only enough to get it to spray through my gun. It also looks like your strokes are across the lure the short distance. Try spraying the length of the lure and you won't have so many lap marks, that is usually where runs first occur. Try cutting your volumn down so less comes out at a time, that lets you control flow better. It would be good if you could actually see someone mix and spray in person. You tube has a bunch of good instructional videos on the air brush. Good luck and man it feels good when you figure it out. Musky Glenn
  3. The best 1/4 oz. spinner baits I have used were made with .029 wire. I could get several fish out of one. Fishing ain't cheap! Musky Glenn
  4. Quality of a lure is really hard to judge until you have a chance to fish it. I assume when we talk of "knock off lures" we are talking about unpainted lures sold to look like name brand lures. But how is that any different than the recent influx of lures that are showing up painted at every tackle shop around. Wally world has them as does BPS. Most of the better known fishermen are pushing some lure with their name on it and some of them don't look any better than the Wally world or BPS new lines. I buy a lot of stuff from Wally world and BPS but the difference between name brand and "new line of lures" is getting mighty fuzzy. Musky Glenn
  5. RayburnGuy, I can relate to that! Musky Glenn
  6. My all time favorite trailer is a Zoom split tail trailer in Glimmer Blue. Not as durable as some but it is killer on char/white spinner baits. They only make occasional runs of this color, so buy them when you find them. The most durable trailers I have used are the ones that come with the Hank Parker spinner baits my Mann. Musky Glenn
  7. I would recommend you get a pair of round nose pliers, they do professional work and I believe they are faster than a tool, even if they are a little harder on your hands. Musky Glenn
  8. I use the Swimming Fluke Jr. and the Storm paddle tail, what ever it is called. I like the Jr. best, in white. Musky Glenn
  9. I have been using plain 1/8 oz. round head jigs on my A rigs. They really seem to shake the body of the swim bait better. Just my two cents. Musky Glenn
  10. If you put plain water in your airbrush and it will spray, then your brush is working good. Put your paint in and see if it will spray. If it doesn't, it is to thick, add reducer or water until it will spray. Musky Glenn
  11. About any type of bit where the outside edge scores the hole size before the material is removed from the hole. Musky Glenn
  12. Good job, you sure got your monies worth. Musky Glenn
  13. From my experience throwing this rig, the lighter the wire connector is, the less it tumbles, and tangles. I went away from lead on the front and rarely get tangles now. Which has nothing to do with the original post. Musky Glenn
  14. It is harder to grind good tools than you may believe. It will take some effort precision to get them right. It needs to be bolted down to a work bench so you can control it better. Here is one example of the style I would recommend. I don't know if this one is any good or not, it is just the style you will need, that has the tool rest to control the chisel. 15. Does it spray like that with just water or thinner in the brush? If it doesn't spray right with water or thinner, I would guess you need to soak the brush overnight in cleaner. Still sounds like some cleaning problem to me. Some of those problems will drive you nutty. Musky Glenn
  16. Very well written Overspray! Musky Glenn
  17. The first and forth lathes, I believe are the same type. They only have a 4" capacity which means you only have approx. 2" of clearance from center to bottom rail. This may be large enough for lures, but that is about all. For making lures these would probably work. Stay away from the drill conversion. The third one has a six inch capacity which means 3" to the bottom rail from center. This would be my choice. Those chisels seem to be to cheap to have much quality to them. They will probably be easy to sharpen, but won't hold an edge for any length of time. I would spend extra money on chisels rather than the lathe. You are going to need some type of grinder to keep chisels sharp, therefore consider making your own chisels out of an old file, which has good metal in it. Just grind the file to shape needed and make a handle for it. This is some of the best cheap metal around. When you get into turning you will find you only need 3-4 chisels instead of a full set. Hope this helps, Musky Glenn
  18. If the vibration goes away when the blade is removed, then it is caused by the blade or the non pulling wheel. It could be the blade (where it is welded together) is hitting the guide blocks and you notice it more at slow speeds but more likely is caused by some out of balance in the big wheel. But, if it goes away when it gets running at full speed, it is probably just normal for this bandsaw. How does it perform when you cut something? Musky Glenn
  19. Crushed walnut hulls have also been used in tumblers. Musky Glenn
  20. Having never worked with propionate, here is what comes to mind for me. It seems if the propionate is that hard to sand it needs to go on over a surface that will not allow the grain to raise. I would suggest using oil based sanding sealer, which is easy to sand, then apply the propionate, IF, it will adhere to the sanding sealer. That is my uneducated $.05 worth. Musky Glenn
  21. I thought it was used on Rebel Wee R's? Musky Glenn
  22. Seems like spine was more noticeable with older fiberglas than graphite. Musky Glenn
  23. Great work, I especially like the green mix on the back of the Sammy clone. Any suggestions on how you mixed that color? Keep up the good work. Musky Glenn
  24. I would agree with Crankpaint. Lowes and Home Depot usually stock poplar in different dimensions. There is a light weight maple that might work, but I don't know the correct name or a source. Musky Glenn
  25. How about taking a large drill bit, a drill press, an indexing wheel, and a jig or two for holding and lighten it in an afternoon (or two). Used to be able to buy "loose" bearings and some thinner oil just for long distance use. Or you could do like I do and tie on a three ounce musky lure and then any reel will throw a mile (and backlash twice in the process).lol Musky Glenn
