  1. What happened to the members names at the bottom of the Forums page? I noticed that they disappeared and haven't been on there in awhile. CLM
  2. Well Solarez sent me out some pe gloss resin to replace the low odor resin that was not curing right. I was excited to try the new stuff but it never made it to me. It was damaged along the way and wouldn't be delivered by the carrier. Emailed Solarez and haven't heard back yet. Carrier was suppose to contact Solarez too. Don't know what to do now. I would really like to try this stuff but luck doesn't seem to be going my way. I know some were talking about resin leaking in the package when the received it. Has anybody else received resin or package damaged? Maybe they need to package this stuff better!!! CLM
  3. My post might have come across wrong. I wasn't talking about Jones tones foil. I was talking about bare metal foil. The link was attached to my previous post.
  4. Somebody had talked about this foil in a previous post. I think this foil would be worth trying. It is used on model cars and already has an adhesive back. I will be trying some in the near future and post my results. Here is the link: http://www.bare-metal.com/bare-metal-foil.html
  5. I have been looking at buying the HP-CR for sometime now, but I thought I would see what everyone thought of it before I did. I would like to know the good and the bad about the airbrush. If you have one now and like it or had one and didn't like it. The CR has a .5mm needle which I think would work great for thicker paint or glitter paint. I also paint bigger lures so I don't need really fine detail. You can get the .35mm conversion kit for this airbrush if needed. I would like to stay under $100. Let me know what you think? Thanks, CLM
  6. Are you using mesh material or a scale template? CLM
  7. The wax rises to the surface to suffocate the resin from atmospheric oxygen so you get a bone dry surface. CLM
  8. Thanks fishwhittler, and thank you to youthinthewild and the boys!!! CLM
  9. I am trying the low odor/voc pe resin and I am having issues with the surface being tacky no matter which way I try to cure it. Gary from Solarez said the surface should cure dry. I am working with him and doing some tests to see if I have a bad batch? I am taking the resin and pouring some on a piece of foil. Then before I take it outside I put a piece of plastic wrap over the resin. This is to suffocate the resin and keep atmospheric oxygen away from the resin. I am still getting a tacky surface. This was around 3 pm my time. He wants me to try it at 12 noon when the sun is higher in the sky. If I get a tacky surface then it probably means I have a bad batch. He has been really nice to deal with and said he would send out a new batch or refund my money. I told him there has been success with the gloss resin curing. He told me there is some wax in the gloss resin that rises to the surface and suffocates the resin making the surface cure dry. That might be why there is some issues with getting a glossy surface. When Cougarftd is interupting the curing process that probably is doing something to the wax and giving him a glossier surface. To answer the brittle question, I have taken the resin off the foil and tried bending it around. It will snap before you can bend it around flat but it does have some give to it. I am thinking it is not as brittle as D2T but not as flexible as Etex.
  10. Thank you bass100. I'll try that. CLM
  11. I fired off an email tonight to solarez. Hopefully I get a response. I talked to them before I ordered this to see what product they would recommend. This was one of three. Might have to try the other two.
  12. I am trying the low voc/odor dual cure polyester resin. I have tried curing it in the sun, with a 51 led uv flashlight, and a uv fluorescent blacklight and none of these ways are working. Surface remains tacky and I can leave my fingerprints in it. I can also push my fingernail into it. I have left it to cure in these 3 ways for alot longer than the 3 minutes that the bottle states. Maybe I am using the wrong solarez product. So far I am not impressed!!!!!! I have spent some money on the product and two different lights with no success. Might have to go back to etex, even with longer cure time and two part mixing I get better results.
  13. Quickdraw, Roughly how long does it take the solarez to cure with the 51 led uv flashlight? CLM
  14. Has anyone used solarez for sealing wood and making blank smooth for painting? Also I think hazmail was trying the solarez epoxy. If you see this hazmail how's that working for you? CLM
  15. I think they were having a show on the 10th. He said he would announce the winner on the 10th. I know I was having a problem getting on the TU website Friday and Saturday. Finally was able to this morning. I sent out a lure also. I hope he got it in time? CLM
  16. Cougarftd, Do you put the lure inside the nail dryer? How much room do you have? Don't know if a musky lure would fit in there or not?
  17. Cougarftd, Do you think the second coat bonds good to the first coat. Or being the first coat cures so quickly there is a separation of the two coats?
  18. Do you put one coat on top of the other? Or do you prep the first coat before you put the second coat on?
  19. Cougarftd, How many coats of the regular solarez are you putting on each lure? What kind of thickness do you get out of one coat? Maybe a 1/16" or 1/32"? I just got a 4 oz bottle today. I ordered the low odor formula and thought I would give that a try. I build pike and musky lures so I am curious how it will hold up to their teeth!! Live in MN so weather is getting colder, hunting is going on and hard water will be here soon. Do know if I will have time this year to try it out on the water. Might have to make an ice fishing jig for pike and put some solarez on it. CLM
  20. Quickdraw, are you using the low order formula?
  21. Went out and bought a new package of 2 ton epoxy. I think my other 2 ton was getting old. I had it for over a year. I noticed the packaging had changed on the syringe style. It now says Devcon home. It's still waterproof and has 2500 psi strength. A few things did change from the old to new package. The old package had a working time of 30 minutes, could be handled in 2 hours and cured in 8 hours. The new package doesn't have a working time, it has a set time of 30 minutes. It says it has a handling time of 30 minutes and cures in 8-12 hours. Just thought I would put this on here for everyone to read. CLM
  22. Ken, I painted up the lure tonight. I will glue lip and screw eyes in tomorrow. Then topcoat over the weekend. I will mail the lure Monday priority mail. You should get it by Thursday the 8th. I hope that is soon enough. Sorry I didn't see you post earlier. Boys should really like it!! CLM
  23. Sounds good I will send hooks and split rings. I build bigger lures for pike and musky. I will send a 6 inch crankbait that weighs about 2 ounces. Don't know if you have those kind of fish in Texas but they can fish it if they want or use it for display. CLM
  24. Do you want hooks and split rings on lures as well. CLM
