  1. Ive done a few and they seemed pretty good.
  2. I have several different rods set up for different styles and lure's. But ive tried to keep the line as simple as I can. Do to the unending types and sizes of line it just gets to much for my little brain. 90% of my bank fishing and light spinning rigs are just spooled with trilene 8lb mono. As for my bass rigs it's 8lb,12lb,15lb BT big game mono and and 65lb power pro. spinning reels for the 8lb-10lb mono and the others are on baitcaster. I'm not nocking the others they may work fine I just havent tried them. With all the stuff I have going on im not going out first thing in the morning of a tourny and stand there thinkin OK wich one did I put the floro and wich one did I put the mono.
  3. I cant ever get sales to stabilize enough to hire some one, one week I may be running around like a crazy man pourin and then the next week nothing. If you have enough work to keep another guy busy good for you! If I can ever get it to a constant level I think I would reconfigure myself and my shop to be as effective as I could ever be, then if that wasnt enough I may look to add some one but it would be somone with experience workin with hot stuff. Most of my friends are welders so a steady hand and heat is somthing we are all use too.
  4. I used to sell on "FEE BAY" but in the last yr or so the fee's they take and then paypal gets to take there fee's it really isnt worth the trouble. I also have had people bid on several things then offered a break on the shipping and all they do is gripe. I had an deal with a guy sent him his stuff three times he still says he hasnt got any of it? But then when you charge them a dollar extra for delivery confirmation they gripe. I had a guy I sold some cranks to say they would run, so I told him to ship them back and I would replace them and ship them back, long story short took about two months fighting with ebay because they refunded the guy and wanted me to pay it. So I was out my lures and the money that pretty much did me in with them, they have great buyer protection but no seller protection and there are some shady buyers out there. But I have made some great friends from there and now have several loyal customers that started there. Its a shame because there are some great small time hand pour guys out there that use to use it.
  5. I did the ones for my site outside and had the camera set for close up's. Just need a good sunny clear day.
  6. I suckered in and bought a set and just as I thought it ended up in the trash right between the helicopter lure and the flyn lure. Had to try them.
  7. Check with some local taxidermist or check on fleabay there is always some panfish mounts on there you could grab one up cheap and make molds off it.
  8. Lexan was developed by DR. Daniel Fox as a result of an experimental wire insulation, It was also invented in germany the same year by BAYER They both applied for the US patent atthe same time thats why the patent for it is about 50 pgs long and GE and BAYER share the rights. Most bullet proof windows in armored vehicles ar made from a product called LEXGAURED Wich is a combination of layers of polycarb with an outter glass shell. If you use strait polycarb exposed to the elemnts it will scratch, dull and fade quickly and looses it transparentness very quickly when exposed to the enviroment. Polycarb is some fun stuff, if you notice the cloudy edge you get after you cut a piece of it you can simple take a propane tourch and heat it just a touch and it will turn back clear.
  9. I use an coffee cup warmer to sit my pyrex cups on it gets hot but has a rubber type coushin for the cup to sit on got it in wally world for like 5 bucks, the plastic will still thicken but it takes it alot longer to cool.
  10. I got the same type e-mail about a year ago wanting 2,500 grubs. I took it for some bogus scam, it was to switzerland I think.
  11. I very seldom spray any gold but if I do its House Of Kolor paint.
  12. And dont count on family and friends actually there the worste people you can even let in your shop. They will tell you... "Hey cuz let me get some of those crazy baits you make to test and il spread the word" This is code for " give me free baits cause im to tight to buy my own" jmo
  13. Its not hard to figure the lures out of a gallon after you have poured a batch because different molds have different sprus some larger and deeper some shallower. If im right here I can normally get 7 five and a quster inch sticks out of 4oz plastic. There is 128oz in a gallon =224 stix per gallon. Think thats right little early for math LOL. Get you a starter kit from bear or del and give it a try first and make sure it is really somthing you want to do. But becarful it is very very addictive I started several years ago with a small starter set from jannscraft, now I have over 3k just in aluminum molds. Keep it simple and have fun!!!!! Welcome to the addiction! If you stumble or have a question just ask. The guys on here have helped me and giving me more knowldge then I could ever repay.
  14. Spencer 1. What do you want to make? 2. You can do this with a twin injector, hand poured with a split cup, or even by filling half the mold and then pouring the other half all by hand pouring. 3 If you want salt it needs to be very very fine, as for softner how soft do you want your lures? These are all good questions and there could be whole pages wrote just to answer each one. Im sure somebody else will chime in and help. Welcome to the sickness!
  15. I guess I have been lucky me and my wife both do CAD in 2D and 3D, I have the same machinist that makes pulley's for my motor's on my moving targets make my molds and it's never costed me more then $100.00 to have a multi cavity mold made.
  16. Just wandering if anybody else has looked into one of these units Im thinking about giving it a try as soon as they give me a price quote. Its made to shoot moltent plastics and adhesives.Has an adjustable heating system and is air powered. Its a company out of AU. Low Pressure Molding Handgun OPTIMEL 100
  17. Check out my website just google ballisticlures.com

I show all my colors in the 5" kodiak craw.

    don

  18. I have the 5" one heat up the mold just a bit and it will pour fine, somtimes I will just pour in it cold and let it set for bout ten minutes to worm the mold, pull that one out and the claws are usually not filled and then go, after the mold warms a bit it pours fine and ive poured hundreds in mine.
  19. I have 2 both are 12v DC worm gear wiper motors I have them ran through an 12v inverter that has an reostat built in it "not cheap" they were left overs from an older R&D project. If the cash is no object Id go with an NPC robotics motot they have alot to choose from and some can be bought with different gear ratio's.
  20. If you make a lure and want to patent it "HIRE AN PATENT ATTORNEY" simple as that. I have three in the procces now and should be pending this spring, but it will take 3yrs to get the full patent and then its only good for 3yrs and has to be renewd, quarterly updated and alot more blah blah blah. Get the attorney and grab your wallet. All of mine are military related so they are under a tarp in the shop and have been for almost a year. Its not a quick process, if you would like to talk to mine he has done work for remington, ruger and a few others you would notice but the last bill I got was for an 15min call $250.00
  21. Not tryn to pick a fight here but Is it just me or dose it seem like the only true argument to the KO's with some on here is the fact that they can be bought, painted and sold cheaper then an original. And with more people doing it, it's starting to cut into others side money? Just because its made in china and sold by a china distributer that makes it an knock off?. So if an american company had them made in china "like most do" and then imported it it wouldnt be? Kinda like that mercury hangin on the back of my boat yeah the box said FON-DU-LAC WI but there built in old mex, so are they an knock off?
  22. I agree mike, thats what makes this site so great!
  23. True. I was just tryn to make some analogy to the whole KO deal. For instance " these may not be correct but just an analogy." skitter walk- zara spook KO? shad rap- rattle trap KO? senko- yum dinger KO? Which ever of these came first would'nt that make the other an KO also? Should we not by them because they are knock off's? I think some of the so called KO's are great and some are junk, thus some of the major brands are great and some are junk. JMO Don
  24. I thnk if you offer to sell it as a knock off and its understood by both parties whats the big deal. It seems there is a bit of discontent with some on here about painting KO's I would imagine that these same people when there truck breaks they run to advance auto parts to by the chinese KO part not the dealer ship and pay dealership prices. If you think about it arent they "ALL" knock offs Lets just say because im not sure who did, if rapala made the first lipless crankbait, then wouldnt that make all the other lip less cranks made by the big companies knock off's too? Ive painted several some worked good some had problems Id rather have an 2 dollar disaster then an 15 dollar one. JMO
