  1. I have used it in the do-it bass casting mold its the same thing west coast quick drops is using.
  2. I think it is either holographic foil or xxx micro rainbow pearl from PPG paints I have used the rainbow pearl for an eagles wings on a fuel tank on a harley it worked well over chrome paint on lures for the same effect as what the bait looks but this is $140 a pint the holographic foil I use on some of my other baits looks just like what is on the bait. it is super thin and would form to the scale pattern on the jerkbait this would also explain the thicker paint on the lower half of the bait
  3. I use the mirrorcoat it gives a deep wet look it dries in about 5-8 hours depending on the temperature and is self leveling so it doesnt build up in spots like gevcon and some of the lesser products will. A 1 1/2 pint kit will last a while but this stuff has a huge shelf life I have a 1 1/2 quart kit that I put flexcoat pumps on and it sits on the back of my paint bench. I have done several 3D scale patterns on it also sprayed over the first coat and it really makes some fascinating effects on baits I also have 35 or so gallons of a commercial grade of system 3 that was discontinued that dries in about 2 hours this stuff we used to make several inlay tables I have one in my living room that is a stream bed replica 3 small brook trout full body replicas some crawfish several minnow species water snails leaves stones and sticks this stuff is like solid water and I wish it was still on the market it has a 10000 psi breaking or cracking strength an average hammer blow wont do anything to it
  4. the strike king and the Mimic bait are one in the same both designed by Sonny McFarland from the greater knoxville area in Tennessee I use both and in a years time I go through several baits whether its the thru wire pulled out of them or the lips breaking or coming out of the bait or just wear and tear on the balsa they get pretty beat up. this is one of my tournament baits I always have tied on whether its the standard one or a modified one with a DOA crimp weight on the lip I have just became a fan of them I ordered 100 of them 3 years ago from kelly just primed and am now down to about 12 or so and I am starting to get paranoid about even using them unless money is on the line thats all
  5. does anyone know where I might be able to find a balsa shad rap style bait with a circuit board lip? I bought a couple of Mimic lures thumper shads and they work great they are an exact body shape replica of the shad rap but the circuit board has a total different action I have contacted Mimic and David Walker both but havent recieved anything back. Can anyone on here help me please???
  6. I am a good friend of Andre he is still in the tackle business and is still thriving he only has limited production though so a lot of times his lesser selling baits tend to be out of stock longer than the baits that are in high demand like the beaver series and the boom boom tubes his trixie shad and trixie shark as well as the ball breaker are run when demand allows but not often he sold the patent on the method crank, the squeaky dolphin and the vixen as well as the balsa popper most had never seen (it looks like the old danny joes ace popper )
  7. I have used the pointer lookalike the popmax lookalike the dt10+dt16 lookalike as well as the RC2.5 they all perform well and are great lures. they are like a grade b trasparency not like the Ima baits in the pic if you buy enough you can pick out some great ones to make ghost patterns and solid color the others the RC2.5 is very durable I have one that I have caught over 200 fish on and the eyelets are still secure not even a little loose and it has yet to run off trac unlike some of the luckycraft lures are prone to.
  8. I use power pro exclusively the only drawback from the smaller lb tests are that they pull into the spool if the drag is too tight. the line will become fuzzy and become faded if you use them in grass or around rocks and zebra mussels I use a little canning wax and run the line between my fingers to fix this and a prismacolor olive pen to recolor the line I flip and frog fish with 65 or 80 Spinnerbaits and toads on 50 rattlebaits and hollow swimbaits on 40 I use 20lb hollowcore power pro with 6-12 lb fluorocarbon on my spinning reels if I need the braid the hollowcore was designed for saltwater to make knotless wind on leaders and I have only found it at a few saltwater fishing sites it comes in 5 colors hi-vis, white, blood red, blue and moss green the green is hard to find I bought 1000 yds the last time thread about 1-2 ft of mono or fluorocarbon into the braid smooth it out from the reel end to the end of the braid cinch it down and you are ready to fish it will never come out ( kinda like the old chinese handcuffs)
  9. I have the new Skeet Reese Honeycomb tube jig and really like it for skipping tubes and shakey heads under docks as well as wacky rigged senkos and flukes as well as lightweight scrounger and sworming hornets I also have the Falcon Cara squirrel tail rod its a little on the lighter side of the spectrum but fishes the squirrel tail/head rig and the drop shot nicely as far as reels I like us reels 230 sx and the shimano saros 3000 they handle braid mono and fluorocarbon equally
  10. [i have used etec on them before with no problems. I now use a system 3 bartop epoxy (self leveling3mil or 5 mil) that can break muskie teeth and is much easier to use and doesnt take as long to cure but has a 10000psi break strength I use this a lot on Lucky Craft, megabass, evergreen, bass star and lots of other high end baits and havent had the first bit of problem with the bait actions I have some baits I have beat into rocks and riprap alot and they are still unchipped or scuffed Try it sometime you will leave the etec at the store I am a firm believer in this stuff I have used etec, dick nite devcon,w.m cambell.and several other epoxy and lacquer clearcoats
  11. I am looking for a couple different lure styles the megabass vision110 knock off and the speed trap knock off does anyone know where I canfind these without paying a lot for them I found some on ebay but the guy wants $8 apiece for them I know sombody sells the other than this guy.
