  1. I feel your pain!!! You got it worse than I did. Let me add to the cause of why to take precautions. Here's what I did a couple months ago. Just goes to show that it can happen anytime. I've been pouring for about 8 years now. Josh
  2. I have had the same luck with the "skinnier" body type swim baits in the spring. I would look for a swim senko type bait. Even if they are five or six inches long you can always cut them down to the length you want. Just a suggestion. Josh
  3. My intent was never to be "shady" I merely answered his question. No plug was intended.
  4. The injection molds will allow you to make baits that rival most others off the shelf giving you the ability to have nice appendages with great action. For me, there is something to be said about hand pouring. It is a great way to really "get to know" the plastic and how it acts. To get a good feel for the plastic is to know what happens when adding salt, softner, hardner... and so on. I feel I have learned that by spending countless hours sitting over a pan and a hot plate. Hand pouring also allows you to get started at a lower price point if you happen to be on a budget. For most of us that have been doing this for a long time, hand pouring was more or less or "right of passage" that progressed us into what we do today. But... I also agree with DeBehr. If the injectors were available eight years ago when I started making my own soft plastics, I would have went straight to them, I just feel that it may have taken me longer to gain the experience I have developed over the years. Good luck!
  5. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to talk about it on here and want to remain in the sites good graces... now I'm stumped. I feel like I should know you. shoot me an email. joshimotoson@gmail.com
  6. Lure Craft also has a 4" shad shape "type" in a two piece. http://www.lurecraft...shot-minna:2850
  7. I use water all the time... don't leave them in over night. 15-20 minutes is good.
  8. When you say "bottom" of the baits. I am thinking the end of them. In other words, the part that's farthest from the injected end. If that is the case, I'm going to suggest something to try but want to tell you that Del would probably never recommend it. It has the potential to be dangerous and should be at your discretion. But I would put the mold in a vise sideways (to hold it securely). Yes, the sprue opening pointing to the side and then inject it. Now to be ultimately safe, leave the injector in the sprue until you're sure that the plastic has cooled, or else the plastic will fall right back out and lead to bad things. My theory is that with the cavities now in the horizontal position, the hot plastic won't plug up the vents before you completely fill the cavities. This is just a way to eliminate one potential issue. I DO NOT recommend that anyone make this a common practice. But if you use common sense and make sure you have plenty of protection from getting burned you could try it. Josh
