  1. So you rather have your soft plastics stay in the water and and tackle box for years than have a safe biodegradable and eco friendly lure. All I can say is..... Ignorant!
  2. Jeff hope to see your other vintage memorabilia.
  3. Jeff that was no insult by any means..... The product speaks for its self standing being able to with stand 38 years either with the original or close to the original recipe (assuming) that says a lot. I would think there should be changes or advancements though after 38 years, such as biodegradable plastic or something.
  4. Nice post! We really haven't made any huge advancements since 1974 though?
  5. It will also help is your mold is preheated, throw it in the oven for a few minutes but not too long until you get a few pours in. Also it will help once you get a few good lures in pay attention and mark the spot on your injector rod that way it will come out the same each time.
  6. Try shawn collins, he'd be the one to have it.
  7. Well I'm working on a soft plastic swim bait and a hard bait like a crank bait. The soft plastic bait does not have a paddle tail and I have also tried a hook with and without a weight.
  8. Hey Guys, I'm trying to build a new lure and I need it to swim! But when I reel it in all it does is spin in a circle..... I've tried everything but nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated and any advice would be helpful. Thanks Jason

Hello guys, I'm looking for a good site to buy hooks online in bulk. I was also looking for a extra tlong soft plastic worm hook for a project I'm working on. I've googled with out any luck....

    real mud puppy

    Wow nice looking bait!
  13. Here is a link for he video.... http://www.smooth-on...MNa0&autoplay=1 Maybe it's not a stretchy plastic, its a stretchy silicone! It starts at 5:20.
  14. Any other info on this company or what they were trying to add to thier plastic? I rather just make a few baits that will last me a long long time, rather having a thousand baits stay in the water for a long long time....
  15. I agree with you guys and what your saying! The problem is money talks and it shouldn't be that way but it is....If us "little guys" had the money like the "big boys" then there wouldnt be any problems. I guess that us little guys have to stick togther some how trying to keep the "big boys" from peaking over our fence, and I know that's what everyone is worried about, including myself. As for all the "posers," I guess I would rather them be posing as a custom tackle creator rather then some of the other things they could be doing. Thanks for all the info and the heads up!

    My new 10 inch bait

Nice looking baits, I strive to be that great...
  17. So what are we suppose to do to protect ourselves and the DIY lure making process, should we patent and copy write everything before we post? We are going to have to find a new name for this site then.....
  18. To add durability. I was looking to make my baits last longer and then I wouldn't have to make as many baits. Just seeing what other options were out there to play around with.
  19. I did use it and it turned out well... It was very simliar to the soft plastic and had a lot of movement! The trick is to mix the two parts togther very well, I mean really well. I used a two peice injection mold but the material is almost as thin as water, so after the four hours it took to set up I had to do some triming since the material went all through the venting. So I think it would work better with a open pour mold.
  20. Man! I didn't know everyone on tackleunderground was actually underground.......
  21. I know there have been many posts on this forum for people looking for a super stretchy plastic and trying to figure ways to modify the plastic to make it stretchy. Well I was one of these guys looking for the same product. I have came very close to finding a product like so. The material is a two part liquid combination ( I think silicone ) that you mix part A and part B together. It's called ecoflex 00-30, it stretches like a rubber band! I tried this product and it works well but not fast by any means! It takes several hours to cure. Just my two scents..... Product Info: Ecoflex® Rubbers are platinum-catalyzed silicones that are versatile and easy to use. Ecoflex® Rubbers are mixed 1A:1B by weight or volume and cure at room temperature with negligible shrinkage. Rubber also cures without a "tacky" surface. Low viscosity ensures easy mixing and de-airing, or you can choose to mix and dispense using our convenient dispensing cartridges. Cured rubber is very soft, very strong and very "stretchy", stretching many times its original size without tearing and will rebound to its original form without distortion. Ecoflex® Rubbers are water white translucent and can be color pigmented with Silc-Pig® pigments for creating a variety of color effects.
  22. When I first joined this forum everyone was throwing around new ideas and bouncing them off one another or showing off some new D.I.Y. project and even new discoveries. Also, it seems like all of the dealers and manufacturers were coming out with a new and exciting product every other day. It seems like everyone is hibernating or even worse fished out!!!! I just was wondering where all the new ideas and new products disappeared to?
  23. Thanks for all the advice, tips and hints. I just feel like the turtle and the hare story just that the turtle dies halfway through the race. I guess I have to mix small portions plastic because reheating was a problem, and I will half to buy more molds down the road and even multiply cavity molds. Now these guys like Bob said selling single bait for a dollar plus, are they using the same plastic we are? Or are they using a more durable plastic or is there a way to buy or make a more durable plastic. I'm not talking about the "hard" plastic for saltwater just something more durable and longer lasting.
  24. I was wondering if you guys had any tips and hints on 1 man 1 mold lure production. Last year I had a custom two piece mold made which I had designed and created and then had a professional make it out of aluminum. I only have a one single cavity of my special, I mean custom mold. I know I can only go so fast considering buy any help on making lure production go faster and smoother would be appreciated. I know everyone started small but how did you do it
