  1. I agree with what you said MPB. I think most times it's a reaction strike and not based on the color pattern so much. A prime example for me is the Rapala Twitching Raps. I have several to this day that are pure mangled and I will not repaint them because I'm afraid it will change the slight difference that makes them so much better than the others. Some of them have a shimmy on the fall when paused and some don't. The shimmy gets em every time but the color can be one of many.. to bad we don't have the option to hand pick our lures from a batch like the pro guys do....
  2. Go for it. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
  3. I think the rest of the country is mad with you folks in Florida for hogging all the heat...lol
  4. At worst it could be used to just clear the crankbait bills and help strengthen them a little. It's a thought..
  5. This is just a random craw I painted with the leftover paint in the gun while doing orders. It is cleared with Alumi-UV clear coat. I keep the clear cool so it stays kinda heavy/thick and brushed it on. It was placed on a turner for about 30 minutes and then I just set up the black light under the turner. Not sure how long it took to cure but I left it there all night. At first it had a little bit of a satin finish but just gently rubbed on it with my tee shirt and really shined right up. I was very surprised and pleased to see this. It seems pretty hard but I can't comment on how durable it is yet. It doesn't look like etex or devcon but it sure was easy. The final test will be dragging it on some rocks and stumps. Hope this is helpful to some that may be considering trying this product.
  6. Michael's, Walmart and Hobby Lobby should all have it.
  7. Using this thicker stencil material can help get soft lines. An example is the gill on the 8.0 I posted. I used this for the gill stencil and never move it to get the white bottom layer and top light blue layer. If you hold the airbrush on an angle and spray across the stencil for the blue portion of the gill it will give you that soft line instead of a crisp line like when you spray directly straight at the lure/stencil. You can do this in multiple layers to get some nice and smooth cool lines.
  8. Here it is. 12"×18" and $0.99 a sheet at Michael's.
  9. I just tried a Google search and a dozen different things that could be it came up but i hate to post a link to the wrong stuff. I need some more of it anyways so I'll grab some on my lunch break and post a pic and the name of the exact stuff I use. It's pretty handy stuff for certain patterns.......
  10. Sorry for the delayed response, I'll send you a PM with the info around lunch today........and yes I have used them
  11. Thanks guys. Hokie I appreciate the kind words but there is some serious talent up here well beyond my skills.
  12. Thanks. Fish don't care about all crazy details and I believe a these Twitchin Raps will catch specks regardless of the color. I hate that they discontinued them but I won't be running out any time soon....
  13. It all depends on what kind of stencil I'm making. I have grown to like using the flexible foam sheets at Michael's. It looks abou the size of a sheet of notebook paper and is probably 1/16" thick. Very easy to cut with an X-acto knife and it won't scratch the paint at all. You just have to be more careful about lining it the same on each side. I do all my gill work and some of the craw patterns I do with it as well. You can wrap it all the way around the bait and shadow in craw lines on both sides at once. I'll take a few pics of what I'm talking about tonight and post them in the gallery. I suck at trying to explain stuff...LOL
  14. I use the badger 155 Anthem and it does details pretty good but I'm not sure about the 150. I'm also unsure of the Fine tip diameter. I've searched for that info before but I never did find an exact number for it. Maybe I should send Badger an email and ask them...
  15. Thanks guys! I got a bunch of these eyes on a trade for some paint work. They have a nice color shifting foil in them that really pops in the sunlight. I think they came from Hagen's online if I'm not mistaken.
  16. Thanks. I love the Little John cranks but you're right about the eyes. They're definitely different
  17. Thanks guys but I can't take all the credit. I robbed a few ideas for this pattern from some of the imported crankbaits on the market. I made a few changes and upgrades of my own to it though
  18. No problem. I must have missed the shad body blanks last time I was up there. Thank you!
