  1. The website is back up, I still need to do some work to it to get it to load faster. Please let me know what you think. Thank you all for your patience. http://www.dakotalakestackle.com/
  2. I apologize, I don't get to this site as much as I used to. I had someone email me about this thread and wanted to know what happened to the site. Thank you all for the kind words, I am in the process of switching services that host my website. I was hoping to have it back up today or tomorrow, but the domain transfer is taking longer than I had hoped. The website address will remain the same www.dakotalakestackle.com, but will look completely different. Cleaner and easier to find information. 2015 I hope will be a big year for us, I will be getting my first shipment of the bait I designed soon. They had some problems with the bait releasing from the mold and held up the first delivery which was supposed to happen early December. I also plan on having a smaller version of the same bait made in early spring. I have really enjoyed creating/designing baits and seeing how they perform. I have been using a CAD program to design baits and getting them 3D printed or carving them out of wood to test them. I have a few more designs that I would like to get a mold made for this too. I can not say it enough but, THANK YOU to everyone who has bought blanks from us in the past and the repeat customers who keep coming back. I always try to get email questions answered as soon as I can, the best I can. This is not my full time job by any means and is still mostly a hobby. In my "real" job I design fixtures and tooling using a CAD program (SolidWorks) for prototype agriculture and construction equipment. Mostly large tillage implements. My wife has gone back to school to get her masters in nursing while still working fulltime. We have 2 young boys (3 1/2 and 9 months) that take up most of my free time, while my wife is studying. With all of that being said. Dakota Lakes Tackle is a huge priority to us and we will continue to work on growth by adding more baits and keeping current baits in stock along with continued customer service. Thank You all and have a Merry Christmas.
  3. I use Garco now instead of DN, I am very happy with it. I recommend it to everyone that asks about MCU. I dip my baits and let them dry for 3 days. After that they are rock hard. I also like Garco because it does not seem as sensitive to oxygen in the jar. I always seemed to have to throw DN away because it jelled up inside the jar. At first I thought I was being to stingy with Bloxygen, but I spray the same amount in the Garco jar and have no problems.
  4. They put holographic paper inside of the bait before bonding the 2 halves together. I have been looking into getting some similar, but I see Jim has beat me to it. I did get the Sammy's with the holographic insert but you need to apply clear coat to see it come through.
  5. I feel I must chime in on this topic. I started painting baits just for fun for myself and it turned into an addiction fast. I started by buying blanks from Janns and a couple other websites that sell unpainted lures for up to a couple dollars a piece. Once I started painting more and more I finally looked into cutting out the middleman and looked into getting them overseas. With the birth of our first son 9 months ago, I do not have nearly as much time to paint as I would like. I decided to convert my website to selling lure bodies and hardware and helping others get into the hobby of painting their own lures. I got burned the first couple of times ordering overseas, (BAD quality, long waits, quantities not right, and so on.) Now I have found a good dealer and am very happy with blanks I am getting. These baits run good and the quality is amazing. Some people just aren't as talented as Tater Hog, or some of the other amazing builders on this site. So buying a blank bait and putting their own touch on it is good enough for them. Jake

  7. You can drill a small hole and ad super glue and epoxy over the hole
  8. Yes, and her "good" hair dryer I wore out
  9. Whhhheeeww, got the invoice today. I just needed to be more patient. Thanks Dick
  10. That might be worth a try for me. I was having such trouble with my paint wrinkling under the clear coat. I started shining a halogen light on the painted lures until it was time to clear them.
  11. I did not have my jar of DN lid on tight or not enough bloxygen. Anyhow it is shot... That was about 2 weeks ago. I have emailed using the TU discount but have not heard anything back yet. Just wondering if he is out of the S81 right now? Since I have been out of clear coat for 2 weeks I am starting to get nervous about when I will get some again. Thanks Jake
  12. Well, I'm with you in the search. I have been having such problems with my current topcoat with paint getting wrinkled. I thought I had it figured out my spraying a light coat of pledge future shine and heat setting to the point of almost melting some baits. I'm thinking that I might try to put a heat lamp on my finished baits for a period of time to sort of bake the paint as well... It is not humid here yet so I don't think that is the problem.
  13. Is it clear? I have looked online and can only find stuff that is colored.
  14. I got some pledge future floor shine and put it in a old pump spray bottle and hit the lures with a light mist before dipping. I heat set the the paint real good and the pledge too. That seemed to help alot.
  15. How much would you pay for the contact info?

  16. I too have had them puff apart on me too. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me at first.
  17. I am using the S 81, and I always heat set in between coats. Bob what brand of pearl are you using. Also it is the pearl white that is giving me trouble, I use opaque white as my base coat. Thanks guys. I will post a pic later.
  18. I am having problems when dipping my baits that have any pearl createx paint wrinkling. I thought maybe I was putting it on a little heavy, but after making sure not to it still wrinkled. I am dipping and hanging the lures by the tie line and don't seem to have any problems with any other paint besides the pearls. I thought about adding some pledge future shine to the pearls, as I have read it make the paint harder/stonger.

  21. I ordered some stuff about a month ago. No problems here, pretty fast shipping too.
  22. I think 2 seconds might be a little much when the can is new, I did not have a back up can on hand a few weeks ago. When I went to close up my mason jar barely anything came out. I had the red straw almost touching the DN in the jar and it didn't even made a ripple, but it stayed fresh. I was in a panic. Now I will always have a backup can.
