One of my favorite bed colors:
Bubble Gum
1 cup plastic
15 drops M-F White
3 drops M-F Red

You might remember them from when you were younger. I wonder if the molds would work for making some cool looking baits...

I think most people glue on the eyes and/or dip the head in clear, hot plastic to seal them in.
Nova also has a nice idea for making the eyes stay on too. You can see it by clicking: HERE

Not a problem. I should be thanking all of you guys are TU for all the great information you provide

I agree. The Caney Creek Croaker mold I got is awesome! It makes some of the best frogs I've ever used.
Jason at Caney Creek is also a nice and extremely helpful guy. When I first got the mold I posted pictures of a couple frogs I made and a tiny bit of the foot was missing on each frog. Jason called me up and gave me a bunch of great advice on things like temperature and safety tips that definitely helped me out.
Top notch service and products all the way around.

I have one too that came in the mail about a week ago. I got the idea from Jason over at Caney Creek.
So far so good. I have only noticed good things about it.
A) The flimsiness of the material makes it very easy to hand pour a thin stream of plastic.
B ) The silicone cup keeps plastic hotter for longer (I'd say about 2.5x longer than Pyrex)
C) The plastic doesn't stick to the sides.
Here's the exact one I got: http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=280625234787
Safe up to 490 degrees F

I like the new layout but I now have a problem. Yesterday everything was fine and working perfectly, but now I can't see the right half of any page. I can't scroll over either. Here's what it looks like on my end: http://i52.tinypic.com/ilfuab.png
Anyone else having this problem or a solution?

Has anyone every had a anchor glass cup explode when using in micro, I did tonight, I did not set it on a cold surface, my table is wood.
I could see little flames in the micro when heating, took it out set the cup on the bench, and it exploded. Use with care when pouring with these cups.
Thanks for the headsup.
You may want to place your cup on a towel instead of your wood table.

Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna try one with about five colors and see how it turns out. I'll upload it to the gallery if I like it.

I'm still very new to pouring. I just wanted to do something like this for awhile. It needs trimming but then it'll be good to go.

This is a really helpful topic. Thanks Del, Jesse, and guertin for your responses, as they were especially helpful.
I have another question though... Does anyone know where to get glitters that can be used in a microwave for soft plastics?

What plastisol do you like the best and why? Where do you buy yours from?

You may be able to rescue the mold, depending on how deep you have to dig for the worms.
Next time, it is very important to degrease the worms. Wash in warm water with detergent and dry thoroughly before attempting to stick down. Here are a few links to the same discussion:

These should help.

Thanks for the links and the answer. Sorry about asking a question that was already covered. I couldn't find anything relevant to my question when I tried using the search tool.

I tried making a mold out of Bondo fiberglass resin after watching a youtube vid. I thought I did everything correct but after the mold dried I took it out of the pan and the senkos are completely covered in the resin. Did I do something wrong or do I need to sand the mold down until I can extract the worms?

What type and size hooks do you frogman use on the 3" -31/2"- 4" topwater frogs Thanks
I use 4/0 for 4" frogs.
-
Do you cook worm oil in?
-
What worm oils and/or scents do you use on your baits (mostly frogs)?
-
That would be cool,
if when you got a starter kit.
you could choose..
softness of plastic
colors you want
and molds you want.
I never got a starter kit.
so they mite just do that.
great Idea.
Jeff
Thanks for all the replies! I think I'm going to get a started kit from Caney Creek. One of the options is a frog mold that makes one of my favorite frogs

Also, has anyone ever tried the Swim frog mold on Jann's Netcraft? The price seems too low for it to be a quality product. http://www.jannsnetc...ds/440220.aspx#
Same with this frog on LureCraft http://www.lurecraft.com/catalog.cfm/molds/plastic-molds/frogs/5x903:2632
Opinions on these two molds/frogs would be very helpful also

I'd like to start making my own soft plastics but I don't know where to begin. I want to start off making frogs and work my way up from there.
What are all of the essentials? Links to your favorite molds and other supplies would be very helpful too.
Thanks. Happy new year!

I got the starter kit from Caney Creek Molds and am extremely happy with it. The service and turn around time is great too!
Here's a link to the starter kits: http://www.caneycreekmolds.com/Kits-and-Certificates_c_24.html
I got the 4" Croaker and it's the best frog I've used
