  1. Bob, agreed. I'm not looking for an identical bait, just a similar action. The fellers that want them, including myself are just looking for a similar profile and action. I do understand that if it's not an identical bait, the action won't be identical. Maybe better? Would just like to find something close to try.
  2. Thanks for the info. Was considering making some molds, but I usually make them from my own designs. Feel a little bad if I copy someone else. How good is the action on the bt swim worm?
  3. Have a few people wanting me to make swim senko type baits. Are there any molds that can produce a bait with similar action? Thanks for any help.
  4. Great info Joe. This could be very helpful when trying make custom colors. You could measure out an ounce or two and then mark that on your test tube. Multiply your ounces and drops of color for the amount you are mixing up and be spot on every time. Thanks again for the info. Joey
  5. Looks like elaztech and other super stretchy and flexible types. From what I understand.it is an extruded plastic and not available or feasible for the custom lure maker. Joey
  6. Sorry, need to add a little. The vaseline won't cause bubbles, but when mixing, if you are mixing it like you beat eggs it can also fill the pop mixture with air bubbles. When I used the whisk I mixed slowly, kinda mashing it against the sides of the bowl to remove the lumps and to try not to aerate it too much.
  7. Had something similar happen to me when I first tried pop molds. My problem was not mixing well enough. I had some fair sized "tunnels" from the dry little lumps of pop. When it wasn't mixed well, the lumps trapped air and as the pop dried, it absorbed the lumps and left the air pocket or tunnel making a void. I use a wire whisk to mix it up thoroughly and solved the problem. That said, my pop molds seemed too brittle, so I switched to rock hard water putty (advice from a feller on the forum) and have made excellent and durable molds. I hope this can solve your problem. Joey
  8. Yes sir, Frank, it was one of your videos. Great videos by the way. Thank you for the information. Thanks to everyone who contributed. I can now make an educated decision on what to use and how to use it in this situation.
  9. Very hard question to answer. Ask ten different people, get ten different answers and a hundred different reasons. What I prefer, other guys detest because of the smell. I don't think there is any bad plastic out there. Ask companies for samples, try one see if you like it, or buy the smallest amounts from different brands you are considering and try them. Just have to find the one that does what you want and expect. Any of the plastics can reproduce the "feel" of the name brand lures you are trying to imitate.
  10. Smallmouthaholic, I read the article and it states what I thought. Not to use pyrex on a stovetop.(electric skillet or griddle would be the same thing) So, the borosilicate glass would be safe to use in this instance? Thank you, Joey
  11. Thank you painter 1. I also know what happens when glass is set on a stove top (big smoky mess and ruined supper!). So are borosilicate cups the only ones that are safe? I've made plastics for a couple years, so I've went through some trial and errors. Some of the hand pour laminates, I use my pot for one color and the mic for the other. The griddle way would speed things up. This is something I don't really want to deal with error. thanks to anyone else who shares their knowledge. Joey
  12. was looking at some videos in the how to, and noticed guys putting their pyrex cups on a griddle or electric skillet. Do you put a silicone pad or something on the skillet? Kinda thought the cups would break doing that. Someone that knows, did I see this wrong? If not are there any tricks or don'ts? Thanks for any help.
  13. Zeiners bass shop, a little store, sells mf for 45$ a gallon. I believe shipping is about 7 dollars. I agree with fuzzy grub on this being very easy to use. It's my favorite, other than the smell. Gonna try some cc, as I've heard good things about it, comparable to mf, with less smell. The price is comparable also.
  14. I had problems with sticking the first time I baked my masters also. Used a cheap metal pan the first time. The second time I used one of my glass baking dishes and didn't have any problems. I don't see baby powder or flour making any issues either. Hope this helps
