  1. Thanks and I've enjoyed your video tutorials. I need to subscribe to your youtube channel.
  2. I sure hope so as well! I completely neglected bass this year in pursuit of trout. You will have to let me know how you like the bait when you get it.

  5. Thanks for the comments and for all the help on this board. I have another guy who makes the boxes. I wanted the box to also act as a display case and I am still in the process of making vintage style labels for the box. I will add a couple more pictures.
  6. Reasonably well referring to the fish I've caught, haha.
  7. Out of morbid curiosity I requested a quote. Probably will not hear back but thought it was worth a try.
  8. Thanks. I've done reasonably well on them. Wish they didn't take as long to make though!
  9. I've never tried crazy glue, but I have tried cheap super glue and found that it turned to white liquid after being continually submerged for 8+ hours.
  10. Does anyone know where to get some very small packages quick setting epoxy? I need to start carrying some with me when I'm fishing to make field repairs when necessary. I would like to find a two-part epoxy with tubes the size of a small super glue tube.
  11. Gene, thanks. We are shooting for next Wednesday for our small swap. Since there are only two other guys I think it will save the most money if they just send them to me. Thanks for your help and hope to continue to participate in the lure swaps. One note for the moderators, I would suggest allowing posts for swaps to be in their respective building forums. I don't think this forum gets nearly as much traffic.
  12. I built one similar to this. Nice thing with the pipe clips is I use many different attachments on the end of them and switching between couldn't be easier.
  13. Slightly off topic, but I've noticed the 3m brand of microspheres is much more larger in size. Another brand I've used is much smaller. If you combine them you might be able to get a more dense packing of microspheres. Probably not a huge difference and may be just as unpourable as over-adding MS
  14. That is probably even a better idea! Designing for maintainability. As of now when one breaks I have to get the dremel out and chop up the bait and then it starts looking like a Frankenstein.
  15. The tail is rigid but the strange thing is that I have never broken a tail by casting or catching smaller fish. My only reservation in adding thickness is the extra weight at the rear of the bait that may tilt the balance to the rear and the swim action look unnatural.
  16. The rear fin is is fixed and not pinned. I may actually try pinning it with a little bit of mobility. You may be right about the rotation, at full joint rotation the fin is parallel with the body of the bait facing the opposite direction. I will try to get a photo up.
  17. Good ideas. I think I am going to add 20-50% more to the thickness and if that doesn't work I will switch to a polycarbonate. What may exacerbate the problem is the cold water and I wonder if polycarbonate would behave the same in cold water. My tail segment already has 180 degrees of movement so I can't add anymore. Now I see why people use the microfibetts.
  18. A problem that has developed with my 8" swimbaits is when I catch 20+ pound fish the rear fin breaks about 80% of the time. I am currently using a relatively rigid thermoplastic and have not yet tried other, more flexible plastics yet. For those using Lexan, do you observe this phenomenon? From my research, the vast majority of the strikes come at the rear 1/3 of the baitfish and I'm suspecting the more powerful jaws of a larger fish is too much for my set-up. My plastic thickness is about 3/32" which gives the best optical properties. I was hoping to avoid going thicker.
  19. Ok, I think we have a 3rd person, we're getting close. Also would like to add I am going to ask Lincoya if he wants to act as the escrow manager of the swap since he has done several already.
  20. Nothing worse than checking the lure turner after a good night's rest to find the lure is still tacky. I use them anyway but invariably the lure clouds up as it collects crap on the tacky surface.
  21. I found I get more air bubbles with alcohol, I think the alcohol evaporates and makes the bubbles. My problem could be that I am working around very detailed structures and use 2-3 mixes per bait in low volumes. Having low volume, as mentioned by others, reduces the margin of error. I will try mixing it more as you suggest.
  22. According to the D2T instructions, it says you can measure by weight or volume 1:1. I have been measuring by weight for an entire 256g combined bottle set and was left with an extra 22g of the clear liquid at the end. That suggests the clear liquid is 17% more dense than the yellow liquid. So in order to get a 1:1 by volume you need to measure 1:1.17 by weight. I think that might explain why I have been getting 98-99% cures where the bait is slightly sticky to the touch even after 24 hours. Anyone else experienced this?
