  2. I hope one day i will be able to help the new guy out like you all have helped me......and when that day comes he can ask all the questions he likes. Thanks again
  3. I guess i could grab a root and grunt, or piss on the fire and call the dogs. But for me the smart thing to do is ask as many quistions as i can and get as many opioions as posiable. I'm not rich by any means so i thought i could learn by other peoples mistakes...I have learned a lot aready from the members on TU, and hope i can learn more. But in life i have learned that you can benifet by learning all you can.......and to me that gives me the advantage of someone who is afraid to ask.....Thanks for everything. Brent

    Stencils

How do you hold your stencils in place??? I thought of using painters tape but didn't know if it would pull the paint of the lure....As you can tell i'm brand new at this .Any help would be welcomed.
  5. Thanks so much for all the replies....All of you have taught me a lot about compressors.......I'm not going to make up my mind over night, i never do.....Any more suggestion would surly be welcomed....Thanks again guy's for all your help...... Brent
  6. I noticed that you said you have your compressor in another room......How loud is it???? db level if you know it???? I have a friend that has a gmc twin tank..4.3 gallon...it has 1hp and 60 db level....if you type in gmc air compressor there is a site that has it on utube......the 1 hp is the only thing i don't like besides it being oiless...He has had it for about 6 months with no problems...he uses it every day...it sales for 249.00 on sale.....i think it being so quiet is the best part..and the fact it only takes 2 min. to fill the tanks....thanks for your reply.
  7. The swim baits that i am referring to are store bought.....I am not building my own.....thanks for all the comments....and more advice would be welcomed....Thanks Brent
  8. Sure could use your help on clear coating a segmented swim bait.....How, with what and so on......Thanks for your input....
  9. This was a post from Dick himself.....if you need to verify this give him a call........post as follows Excellent instruction. We use nirogen in our shop for all containers of top-coat. Even have it on the top of the TC waiting to ship. Anything that doesn't absorb moisture and is heavier than air will work. Bloxygen works well, I am told, but we use enough I simply got a bottle of nitrogen from the welders supply and regulate a bit onto the top of anything that is ever opened. Thanks for the good commentary, Bob! Dick
  10. I have 5 friends that use C S seal coat all the time and have never had any problems with it.........I just called the company and they said something else is causing your problem....Some of the big company's use this product on their cranks and top water baits..... You might want to call the company yourself and talk to them, i'm sure they will help you get to the bottom of your problem.....I have some baits that have this product on them and they all look like they were done yesterday.....and i fish with them all the time...By the way the baits i have, have been dipped 3 times....Good Luck Brent
  11. I've been told you get about 75...2sec blast out of a 1 can of bloxygen...but like the above post said it depends on the air space in your container......Most people are using mason jars with the 2 piece lid, because the lids make a good seal.....Good luck
  12. Removes water vapor, dirt, dust and oil vapor. Changes from blue to pink when the filter needs changing. This is what i thought a dissecant filter does...If you have a compressor that uses oil you might get oil vapor in the air line....I'm new at this so i am try to learn all i can...Thanks for all your help....Any more input would be welcomed.... DTL Brent
  13. If i put this stuff in the oven and it happens to have oil from the compressor on it want it smoke when heated??? Just a thought.
  14. what do you mean.....bake the dessicant ...and how do you do this???? thanks again DTL Brent
  15. thanks for your reply.....the guy i sent the message to uses a 41/2 gallon tank and i was asking how often it turned on and off....I agree with what you said about using 2 regulators, you should be able to turn down the pressure down to 1 psi that way....Am i correct about that???? Someone else told me that they use 2 regulators with a desacant filter on the out going end of the second regulator. He also uses a pistol grip filter at the air brush....WOW that sounds like over kill to me...But i'm new at this so i'm not sure i have a right to judge...Anymore advice would be welcomed....Thanks for everything. DTL Brent
  16. If you don't want to put a lot of specks on you bait, and you would like to put the specks where you want to ....try using a toothpick....Leave the sharp point on your toothpick for small specks and cut the tip of for larger ones.....you can also use different colors specks this way and not clutter your bait... This does take more time than other methods but not as long as you might think.....this is just one option. The other post are great ideas too....Good luck DTL Brent
  17. I bought a Hi Line ch with a 3mm tip....this brush is, way better than i am right now.......I called Iwata and they told me for lure painting that they didn't recommend the Eclipes. They give me a lot of reason why i should go with a different brush...The brushes they told me to think about was....Revolution CR, HP- C+, Hi line CH with 3mm tip..... 80% of lure painting was done with Revolution CR.....I also saw this on a website called Tackle Making..... I am new to this and did a lot of research before i spent my money.....i'm sure glad i did.... I have learned a lot from the people on TU......Thanks to all of you, maybe one day i can repay the favor... DTL Brent
  18. How often do you use it and how often does it turn of and on....What is the max psi and how low(psi) can you turn it down to. Thanks for your help..Any advice would be welcome... DTL Brent this message is for yardape.
  19. Glad to here everyone else had great service......It took me 7 weeks just to get a catalog.....and thats after i called twice.....And then i find out that they don't carry what i wanted anymore.... of course if i was looking for sand it would be out of stock.......good luck...
  20. thanks for your reply about air compressors....I have been to every hardware store in Mobile.....and have looked at a 100 or more compressors....When i get home a check out the compressor on the enter net....Almost all of them get bad reviews......I was just trying to keep from wasting my money on a bad one....Thank you all for your input......take care DTL
  21. It seems that the ones that posted on this before were not happy with the air compressor that you are using.....I'm looking to buy a new one and need some feed back on a good compressor. 3 or 4 hundred dollars is my limit.....I hope to be painting a lot with it so a tank style is a must... It should be quiet as possible, but i can build a sound box to put it in if i have to....I looked on the pc and couldn't find anything that had good reviews...... Sure would welcome your comments....thanks DTL What is a good name brand...????
  22. Does anyone know where i can buy ( fluted willow blades, in black nickel and copper ) I need to buy them in bulk. Lure Parts Online does not carry them anymore......Thanks for your help DTL
