  1. I think GP with very small amount of chartreuse, and maybe some watermelon. Large .40 flake in either gold or silver in the red
  2. What I see from the picture looks like you have bubbles in your hot plastic. Many topics to be found on this board about that issue.
  3. No disrespect to Microsoft but I'm really happy with this Google keep free app. I can make a note, snap a picture and send the thing. To edit, just open it and start writing, or add another picture. Now also using it for property maintenance. Guy on site can send me a note with picture even if he has a different type phone. I can keep the notes organized easily too. This site has some great folks with good ideas - worth every penny I pay in dues;)
  4. I dipped a worm in the solvent based (vpi) paint. I paused too long and the worm melted, lol.
  5. We use Quickbooks Pro and log every transaction, buy sell, or donate. We also use that system for the rental property we own. Every month my wife balances the accounts with the bank statements and emails the Quickbooks file to the CPA. Easy, peasy. Make tax payments quarterly on the 15th. There are so many complicated rules, depreciation schedules, deductions and credits that it can be difficult to keep up.
  6. I really appreciate the advice and help received here, related to this issue. It is clear that the failure to make it work is due to my inexperience and lack of skill in the this area. You can lead a horse to water .... Thanks especially to Leonard and Bob.
  7. Update: ordered LocTite Primer, red thread lock and 1/2" pins at .252". About half of the 30 pins stayed, but the other half are loose already and causing problems getting the mold halves apart. Will turn them over to a proffesional machinist.
  8. Glad to know that. Thanks for the report.
  9. As easy as they are to hand pour, there may not be much market for an injection version but I will keep an eye out for such a mold and holler back if found.
  10. Good molds, bad communication.
  11. First thing - thank you for the help. Could you explain or point me toward some information about gouging & knurling. This is definitely an amateur DIY operation.
  12. I have about a dozen molds from Delmart that are unpleasantly unique with respect to fastening & alignment. The fastener bolts are pressed in place and there are no permanent alignment dowels in the molds. The molds come with removable 1/4" pins that fit loosely but are adequate as designed. I bought a press to remove the bolts and press in some dowel pins. I am using the Ultra mold pneumatic clamp system (works great) so need to add alignment dowels on these Delmart molds to keep things square. The holes are there in every corner and are uniform at .002" over 1/4". I can order dowel pins from McMaster but not in a size .003" over. Would it work to use the .002 over pins with LocTite? I really don't want to try and fab these from dowel stock. Any other solutions are welcome.
  13. I can tell you that doesn't work for us with industrial epoxies. I'm in the industrial coatings application business and that would be a parts cleaning godsend if it did work.
  14. If someone would tell me how to attach one of these notes/files we could share?
  15. BOOOM !! I had never heard of it but just checked it out and it looks perfect. 1.) Downloaded from the App Store onto my IPad 2.) opened the App and it recognized me via gmail account 3.) made a new "Label" called "Bait Recipes" 4.) added a note with a recipe and description plus warning about reheat tendency. 5.) selected options & chose "take photo" 6.) took a photo & selected "yes" when asked "use photo?" And it is FREE! And easily shareable, with picture. Thank you, Sir. This could be a truly useful tool for next-era cookbook sharing.
  16. I think a critical aspect of the record keeping is photos or a physical sample. I'm sure someone is using a FileMaker Pro, MS Access, SQL or Dbase program either for this or something similar. I'm not looking to copy their data but would be willing to pay for the program.
  17. My wife uses a freeware/shareware program for cooking and baking recipes including cake decorating. She stores pictures, ingredients, instructions and notes. She can browse by looking at photos, recipe names, etc and the database has thousands of recipes, since they can be shared. I looked at it for use in making plastic baits but it is specialized for food ingredients and would be clunky at best for my purposes. The pile of notes I have compiled are useful, to a degree, but not as organized or searchable as I would like. Do any of you guys know of a Program that fits the bill?
  18. Looks like watermelon and chartreuse with a kitchen sink load of different flake
  19. My first thought also, but the other posters are on track also. I think the challenge sometimes is what is the simplest way to get the desired color and level of transparency. Just for fun I will throw out another thought, Lureworks "Natural" + some Amber
  20. Tim Hughes is widely regarded as the king of custom lure painters in the Ozark region. Just saying - If I was starting an airline I would study Southwest.
  21. Shortly into my first session with the new system a heat controller failed in the full open position and quickly over-cooked the material. Having a plan for such a situation is something to think about as this could happen to any of us. The smoke and fumes from burning plastic cause burning of the nasal passages and eyes and it happens quickly. Nasty stuff. I hit the off switch and pulled the plug on the equipment. The vent fan was already on, but I quickly opened the window at one end of the shop and punched the button for the overhead door at the other end on my way out. But the master circuit breaker had popped and when I pulled the t-handle to open the overhead I did it too hard and it hit a ceiling light fixture as it overran the track a bit, spraying fluorescent bulb fragments. What a mess. Solvent alcohol helps remove the burnt residue but I'm not sure yet how to completely clear all the plumbing. Did some wire damage too. Not sure what the problem was as the controller is set at 315 F. Originally I thought it was a bad temp controller. The temp sensor may have come dislodged, since the reading never went over 315 but the unit kept heating.
  22. Definitely gets oily. I'm hoping they come out with a version that does not get oily
  23. I really want the Polysil to work out since they are nearby and it would save me shipping cost. The sample baits I made with the material also oozed a greasy residue and I advised them of same. I am waiting on a "non-slick" material sample. In the meantime I bought more MF super-soft for making jig trailers.
  24. Just thought It worth an update here regarding recent experience with LTSB's. I don't know anyone throwing these things regularly so they are either not popular or are a well kept secret around here. But an old friend who fished all over the country at a very high level tells stories about big bass on these - back in the day. Seeing the opportunity, I bought some pre-owned 5" molds and ordered some brass inserts from BTS, but since there is no description of the weight it was a mystery to see what I would get. I could find no other source and wanted to try them. http://www.btsmolds.com/inserts/inserts?rq=Inserts The inserts finally came (speed and communication are not the best) and they weigh 1/4 oz. I painted them and used some as designed - with the bait poured around them. Then I went fishing. Call me unimpressed and wiser about maybe why these inserts are not widely available. By placing a lightly oiled cocktail straw through the hole, after removing the rod from the cooled baits, they were ready to store without committing to a specific weight. At the lake, I ran the line through, removed the straw, and slid on 1/2 oz and a 1 oz painted tungsten bullet weight (2 seperate baits) that then was inserted back into the cavity. The weight holds well with a split ring and a #2 hook under it, one tine in the bait. The baits cast well and look great in the water but, woe is me, I caught no fish. In fairness, I did not fish them all that long because there was a jig bite on and .... well .....you know. After cutting the baits off it was very difficult to get the weight to back out of the cavity and , in fact, I did not get them out. They are pretty secure in there. The plastic used is MF Medium Sinking. I think it serves this purpose well. BTW, I threw one for a bit, unweighted. It swims great as a wake bait and I plan to try it out when opportunity arises. It looks like a great follow-up bait if a Bass misses my whopper-Plopper?
  25. Are you sure those are 6" across? The pic shows that being the height.Never mind. I saw the note at the bottom and ordered 100. I did order some from clearbags.com in 6x4 also, with the "eurohole" (resisting inappropriate Brexit comment). The clearbags.com, clear bag units are 3.3 cents each, including shipping, when buying 1K. As Frank said, they are advertised as pre-opened.
