  1. How do you rig that jig with a trailer or swim bait? I assume a skirt is fastened at the groove behind the head?
  2. What is involved in UPC coding so retailers can track product? My daughter is interested in getting some product on shelves and I know this is needed. I welcome your help in learning more about the process and costs. Thanks

Thanks for the reply, Ted. I plan to order a couple DJ's just to compare the action but will get a dozen of the LPO''s and paint them up.

    Spoons

I am interested in trying my hand bass fishing with spoons. Specifically interested in casting & flutter spoons about 3" long. Can anyone tell me if there is much difference between the Dixie Jet and the LPO casting spoons? I plan to use mostly with flutter fall and stroke method. The price is right for the LPO spoons and I can paint them but I did recently use the DJ with some success. 6. There are a number of colorants named green pumpkin. Spike-It sells several colors that, either straight, or mixed, may get you what you want. Add some watermelon if needed, and go slow adding colorant. The plastic you use can make a difference also, so recipes may need to be adjusted.
  7. Zoom makes an Avocado Red Tail bait. I have only seen a picture. Friend wants me to match the color, without the tail. It looks like it might just be a darker watermelon red? Maybe the dark color from California 420? Would welcome a recipe if you have it.
  8. Here is another mold option http://www.hiltsmolds.com/HorseHeadJigMolds.htm
  9. Isn't Do-It Molds coming out with an Underspin mold some time soon?
  10. I'm pondering on buying some craw molds and like the 702 from BTS. Y'all seem to have success with them. What is your favorite size?

The duct tape on the bottom works well as a support skirt to keep a big hook from tipping out of the mold before the mold can be closed. My bad for not marking the bad mold.

    Bad One

One of thes is the original and it doesn't pour well. The other is a replacement that works well. Unfortunately, I did not mark them and don't know which is which without firing up the lead pot. Anybody able to tell?
  13. The Crystal Clear is best for very light & transparent colors. There is extensive discussion on this forum. I recommend you search "Caney Creek". That is the soft plastics company who Do-It bought
  14. I am wondering if there is a way to insulate them after coming out of the microwave. Maybe a modified Koozie, like we use to keep a canned drink cold?
  15. I put duct tape across the recessed section below the lead cavity. Fold the tape back onto itself so no sticky parts are exposed - forming a "skirt" along the bottom edge. This collapses for easy placement of the mold under the lead pot. when you get the hooks to stop moving the inserts stay put.
  16. They are lead poured spoons. I agree that the chrome paint does not look like the real thing. Is there a DIY plating method available that anyone is using? Or a paint system that really looks good?
  17. Making some spoons and want them to be a bright chrome color. Is there anything better than Pro-Tec "Ultimate Chrome" out there? I am hoping for brighter.
  18. I have managed to misplace a few of my small tools. Having Grandsons is great and I love the little monkeys but I sometimes find my stuff when I cut the grass. Does anyone know who sells this stirring tool?
  19. That is funny, Bob. I can have a lot of hand pours done by the time I fight my Lee pot into working right.
  20. Just wanted to thank you guys that reccomended this lead furnace. It is definitely better built than the Lee pot and working very well
  21. Yes. The embarrassing part is - right after I posted this, my wife looked at it and said the same thing. Directions did not differentiate top from bottom, but I'm sure they felt that anyone playing with hot lead should not be a moron. Guilty, LOL
