  1. NEVER MIND. Bracket needed to be flipped over. Duh!
  2. I assembled the new lead furnace today and am perplexed by the operating lever stop adjustment system (E in the diagram). The bolt is just "slopping around" in that hole and does not stop the lever. Surely, I am doing something wrong? As you can see in one of the photos, the bolt is able to slide in front (or back) of the lever
  3. You guys convinced me. Best price I found was on Amazon. Prime member so shipping is free.
  4. The moving parts on my Lee Pot are getting loose, especially the top bolt. I'm wondering about replacing it with another unit with better access for molds. What is the best melter you have used (110v),?
  5. Ordered a pair - thanks
  6. They may have been made with a denser material, but I have noticed that the more I use my molds the better they look.
  7. Those are great looking jigs and the silicone might really trigger the bite. I wonder if using superglue after finishing might hold up & be convienent?
  8. Would welcome suggestions on the best gate shears for cutting sprues and trimming lead. My gate shears seem to get dull pretty quick. How are you guys keeping them sharp
  9. great job, Scott. Works like a champ. BTW, what is that High Temp Slicone product?
  10. Got it covered. Thanks, guys
  11. You can make your owns wire guards or order a couple varieties from LPO. They carry the Wacky guards that are very thin and they carry a twisted wire guard that is much heavier.
  12. Thank You. I know where to get some but thought someone here might make them.
  13. We need some 3/4 oz, (maybe 1 oz) spinnerbaits in white & white/chart with big (5.5 to 7) double willow blades. We have a trip in 3 weeks and would prefer to buy them from one of you guys. We need 12 to 15 of them. Please reply if you can help.
  14. Since being burned by hot plastic is a subtopics here; my two cents. I was burned badly on my ankle because I had shorts and flip-flops on. I now always wear heavy jeans, socks & boots, long sleeve shirt, Fire Hose Work apron and safety glasses. Gloves of course. The cause of an accident seems secondary to being exposed.
  15. Watch Franks videos posted on YouTube. Great stuff.
  16. The hottest thing going here in the Ozarks (clearish water impoundments) is the "Ned Rig", a 1/16 - 1/8 oz worm nose jig with #2 hook. Put 1/2 of an Elaztech Zinker Z on this and fish it as a Do-Nothing with a bow in the line. I cut the keeper off the jig so the bait snugs up to the back of the head. A drop of Locktite Gel Control Superglue holds the bait to the head. The jig's lead keeper actually inhibits holding the Elaztech bait in place, so removing that helps. Elaztech has so much salt that hooks will rust badly so pre-rigging too many ahead of time can end up being wasteful. I have making these for a couple guides and as requested from friends. I can hardly make them fast enough. My mold is modified to use wire weed guards. Some like those & some don't. I found that my home poured stik-baits work just fine, but that Elaztech is almost indestructible and will catch a LOT of fish without replacement. In my experience, this little thing catches every type fish, but an inordinate number of small ones.
  17. Thanks. They aren't really eating jigs yet here at Tablerock so haven't been able to test them. Topwater, Flukes & Swimbaits have been keeping us busy this week. Some HUGE whites mixed in with the Bass. We have been throwing only home made baits. Topwater baits are a trade for my jigs and plastic. I figured out that the old Sluggo hooks that Lunkers City put out work best with my "Fluke" like baits. 6"white Paddle tail Swim Baits ( Chart dipped tail) on a 4/0 bullet head jig have caught the biggest fish. I almost can't bring myself to use store baits anymore. Bass have just finished spawning here and the Shad haven't started yet. No surface activity but they can be drawn up to the bait. The big thing here is Ned Rigs now.
  18. Craft hair and bucktail.
  19. Great. I hope to get out again next week and am looking forward to trying some.
  20. I have watched your video(s) and appreciate the tips. We have been using Ned rigs and Flukes with good success. I plan to make some stuff for another St. Jude fundraiser and wondered if those combo jigs have caught on yet or are still a "secret weapon"
  21. I have been tinkering with a combination of hair & silicone jigs but have not had a chance to try them out. Are any of you using these kind f jigs?
  22. Xylene is a "hot" solvent. Bad stuff to breathe and fire hazard. That's not to say it can't be managed, just recognize it for what it is. Thanks for the report. It sounds like it is working well for you.
  23. I have a box full of every single-tail silicone grub mold that Lure Craft makes. Well, Incant swear it is ALL of them, but anything that looked good at the time. I bought multiples of each for a trip to Canada. We had a large group and I made every color I could think of in every type. Anyway, if there is one on thier site you like, let me know and I'll check the box if you think you want
  24. Bubble are common when the plastic is heated quickly in a microwave. Different power levels on ovens can produce the result worse than others. Not the only reason for bubbles, but I struggled with it myself. I turned down the power and heated in increments. Some brands of plastic are worse for this than others.
