  1. I don't fish that type bait but really appreciate the tutorial. I would not have thought of that. Thank you
  2. Wow, great information. Thank you, gentlemen.
  3. Are you attaching your main line to the hook end of that bait? On the solid ring near the eyes?

Where do you guys buy Devcon2T and Craft Hair? It looks like I may need a bunch
  5. The guy may have all the business he wants

Those Eagle Claws are popular here in the Ozarks with jigs used on A-rigs for that very reason
  7. Thanks, guys. Great information.
  8. I have just begun tying some jigs and plan to tie some 1/2 oz Spire Point jigs http://store.do-itmolds.com/Spire-Point-JigbrSz-18-14-38-12-34brHk-410-or-413brCollar-Flair_p_439.html These will be used in freshwater bass fishing with a 3 or 3.5 inch paddle tail grub and need to be tied with either bucktail or craft hair in white and gray/white. I have only tied a couple jigs with bucktail and never with craft hair. Any pros and cons for these choices would be very welcome. Thanks
  9. Steve, please add a picture and I will try to help.
  10. You are amazing. Thank you.
  11. Thank you, Sir. Do you know what size eyes this takes?
  12. I am going to order this mold and could not find the size for the eyes. The site says "none". http://store.do-itmolds.com/Spire-Point-JigbrSz-18-14-38-12-34brHk-410-or-413brCollar-Flair_p_439.html I am also hoping the Owner 5304 hook will work in lieu of the EC410 http://www.barlowstackle.com/Owner-5304-Jig-Hook--P426C41.aspx
  13. I have always had great service from both Caney Creek and Do-It. It would be surprising if that changed. I have been using the same type clamps and also have some intermittent flashing. C-clamps from Harbor Freight are now on the shopping list.
  14. I heat my plastic in the microwave, making sure to stop and stir it in the mid 200 range. It usually is still gelled but it seems to get the heat distributed. Then I zap it a bit longer aiming for a bit over 300. I then add all ingredients. If I dally too long I give it another short zap so it pours well into the Presto Pot. Sprues get zapped and added back. If using light colors, added heat often darkens or yellows the plastic so go easy.
  15. I watched some of your YouTube videos and they are very instructional. I am looking forward to making some jigs and can see that hand tying is what I need to practice.

I agree and would add my thanks, as well. SmallJaw has also been very generous in sharing his knowledge with me on a wide range of subjects - very giving man. Frank's advice and videos on plastics really helped me get started in the right direction. There are dozens more who have also helped me immensely. I will try to follow their example if I have anything to offer, but the combined experience of the veterans here is astounding.
  17. Thank you SJ. I really appreciate the help. I will be making bass jigs
  18. I just bought a jig tying machine from stripercandy. It is made from a sewing machine and you may have seen it the classifieds. It looks great but I have never tied a jig in my life. I am excited to learn and have some friends looking forward to trying the end result. I would welcome any suggestions for suppliers, tips and tutorials. Respectfully, Mike
  19. No doubt, you guys have been very generous with advice and ideas. I feel blessed to have found this site and for all that I have learned since then.
  20. It sounds like a great idea! Can you post a picture so I can get a better understanding of where you are placing these magnets?
  21. I could not have said it better. Save yourself a nasty burn and keep all moisture away from hot plastic.
  22. A pair has lasted me about a year. I have worn a hole in 2 right gloves at the index finger but am still on the original left one.
  23. I use the nitrile gloves and they have saved from burns a couple times, though I did peel them off pretty quick after the hot plastic spilled. I have a shop apron that I bout at Duluth Trading and I keep the gloves in the pockets. On for pouring and off for demolding/ http://store.do-itmolds.com/Nitrile-Gloves_p_328.html Apron http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/product/bib-apron-best-damn-shop-apron-96543.aspx?kw=shop%20apron&processor=content
  24. Not only talented, but a gentleman of integrity as well. Good for you, Sir.
