  1. Did anyone see the latest bassmaster elite event on Douglas? Strarks, the winner, claimed to get his SK 6XD to 50 feet without modifing the bait. Just wondered if anyone here has tried long-lining their crankbaits to get super deep? I also wondered if the method worked for any crankbait. I am thinking it would.
  2. Blue green back with a little chartreuse down the sides should get the job done. Tons of vegetation so green is a natural color choice. But don't take it from me...... http://www.strikeking.com/journal/00199/1.php Good luck.........

    PVC prototype #1

Weight 22g Length 3 1/4in Carved from a PVC trim board (Thank you JBlaze ).Hangers and tie are stainless and circuit board bill. Everything is held together with with devcon 2ton . 2ton is also the top coat on this one. Started carving this bait at 4pm and was fishing it at 6 am the next day. By noon, it had caught it's first fish (smallmouth). Bait is modeled after a 6XD. Only the front line tie was used. Back line tie was too far from lip edge (Bait hunted and rolled out of control range). Action on this one is tight (much tighter than 6xd). Makes it easy to pull all day but not sure how the fish like it. Depth 20+ft on normal cast.

    Unfinished twitch

First one Dieter. Made from a very heavy wood . Not even sure what it is but very dense. The wood is from an old headboard. Weighting was more difficult than expected on this heidi like bait.

    white crappie

Appreciate the time spent on the build and paint. Very natural looking. Sure to fool fish and fishermen alike. Really beautiful work!!

    Work in progress..........
  11. I use water based acrylics. I thin the paint with a 50/50 demineralized water and rubbing alcohol. Also add a few drops of liquid glycerin. Glycerin and alcohol can be found in pharmacy. When I say thin, I mean really thin. A spec of paint to a few drops of water solution. This will allow you to control the amount of pigment and paint on lure. This will allow you to soft shade just like an airbrush. I use small water color brushes and always wipe on paper towel of piece paper before going to lure with brush to ensure the brush is not too wet. Too wet is when the paint runs or goes places you did not intend. This will work for about any acrylic paint you desire to use from cheap folk art to artist quality acrylics. In time, perhaps you will no longer need to thin your paint and work straight from tube. Good luck ...Vic
  12. Looks to be moving in on his prey through a sea on fire. Very nice !! I like it.
  13. Caught this walleye today on one of my own. Not what i was fishing for but why not? Thank you JBlaze for the frame on this one. Hooked a large mouth over two that was released early ( if you know what i mean) on same homemade. Also caught a few more smaller bass on this bait later in the day. This bait seemed to work great around wood. It out performed a zoom fluke which is hard to do most days around fallen timber. .
  14. As I understand it (which is a very little), it is a pure question of profit. What is the cheapest thing we can bargain for ( sell a ton of them) , with the greatest profit margin? They never stop looking for profit.
  15. Make a paper cut out stencil of the bib. Fold paper in half. Now mark this crease on the paper. This is your centerline. Next, lay your bib on top of the paper copy and draw a line on your bib with a dry erase marker matching the line on the stencil. Your now ready to install the bib with your laser level using the line on bib as a guide.
  16. Cool setup Dieter. Thanks for sharing. i just watched a video on how to clean my reels. They are a mess. Never really gave much thought to how dirty they were getting until too late. Vic
  17. Big Congrats Mark !! Might try feeding them your lunch next time. Looks like a great spot to fish behind you.

    These too I like .
  19. HI Jerry I like the simplicity . I think some may see parts of the site they did not know existed. Also like the little top water bait on the makers tab. The other tab icons not so crazy about. They look a bit generic. I would like to see every icon a hardbait of some sort but then I am sure there is a wire bait, fly or plastic man that would not mind seeing these used as icons for the tabs too. I like how the site works. Simple and to the point. Things I do not like. The grey for one. The blue was much better in my opinion. Then there is those generic icons on the left side of the page. They just give the site a less professional look. With the grey and these icons the site feels like it is running in safe mode. Not as polished as before. But working well. Overall I like it Jerry. Thumbs up. Thank You!! Vic
  20. She has some nice lines! Looks a whole lot like a Homie bait I am catching fish with now.
