  1. check out the homemade section of the forums. there are some presto pot mods there.
  2. Not much experience with pouring and injecting soft plastics, but I plenty of it in the injection mold business for car parts. Two words: Yes!
  3. The first red flag is the poor grammar. The second is this "too good to be true?". Looks like a phishing or social engineering type scam to me. While a nice big order would be great, not getting taken is even better.
  4. Wait till some others comment. I'm kind of a noob in this area.
  5. Air not getting forced out? Are there grooves cut into the mold for air to escape? Might need to make them bigger? But then have flash to clean up. Just my gut feeling.
  6. Do the o rings look like they are flattened? that can cause a poor seal as well as any nicks in them.
  7. http://www.nelcoproducts.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?pid=524&cid=96''>http://www.nelcoproducts.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?pid=524&cid=96' rel="external nofollow"> http://www.nelcoproducts.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?pid=524&cid=96 This is the cheapest place that I've found. I use 3/4" for bait casters and 1 1/4" for spinning. I cut the end with scissors. Seal the end with a lighter and use 8lb braid to sew the end shut by running the line through the end 2-3 times and then wrapping around the end until i think it tight enough. I cut it about 2-3 inches longer then I want it when finished. I burn the ends again. Roll the end twice and then sew it in two spot to keep it from coming undone. If i get the chance I'll post some pics in the next couple days.
  8. Haven't used it. Basstackle has an injected one and I think the tails are curved. Don't have a lot of plastics experience but you may not be able to do (or find) a hand poured one with curved tails in a 2 piece mold. I do want to get something like this eventually but I think I'll have to get injectors as well. Curious to see what the more experience plastics guys say.
  9. just curious, what was the suggestion?
  10. This is way more important the rocket surgery or brain science. This is fishing after all. :-)
  11. I'm guessing that it's not going to work. Gulp is nice but it does dry out when left out. If you can melt it it's gonna stink. Also I've read on another board that gulp can't be remelted.
  12. Thanks for the replies. Leaning towards the microwave to start with. I am getting the budget together and looking at the options. Most likely I'll be buying my wife a new microwave and taking our old one for heating. I have a good idea of what I want/need to start out with. Just want led some more opinions before I spend any money.
  13. Starting to get a list of stuff I need to get to get started and I'm kinda stuck at the heating stage. What wattage microwave? I am kinda leaing towards the microwave but a lees plastic pot kind of looks nice too. Pros and cons of either? Thanks, Cliff
  14. broken ribs are no fun. i'm just looking at getting into the hobby and trying to figure out if i can break even or use it to support my fishing habit. probably going to startout just trading. nice little chart you have, might have to steal it if i do start pouring plastics.
  15. of course size of bait and quantity come into play. i see a lot of the little guys at shows selling for about $5 a bag. they have a little overhead w/ show fees and such. maybe $4 before shipping. there's my $.02 btw, got pics of what you are doing?
