Bustin Bass makes a KO 2.5. I have painted a dozen or so but the bait is a little larger than I like to fish.

I have a friend that wants some color added to the bottom of some brand new LC baits. I have added the color after scuffing the surface on the bottom of bait but now that they are ready for clear I am at a delima of clearing the entire bait with a light coat of D2T or just the bottom of the bait. I also have some DN S-81 but I guess I would need to dip the whole bait. These baits are LC and they seem to have a fairly thin coat of clear on them from the factory. I also have automotive clear but dont spray it that often. Want to give the best overall finish as possible. Any advice on the best way to do these going foward? Thanks TU.

I am working on making some LC 78 and 100 jerk bait replicas in a specific color. They are the aurora gold and american shad. I have purchased the holo scale and holo water mark foil tranfer material. Has anyone had anyluck with this process and could share advice or pointers on application? See pics below of what im trying to acomplish. Thanks.

Very interesting topic. I have been looking for a study on this for a while. My favorite worm that I throw with great succes is a 7inch Red ringworm with black core by Phantom Tackle.

I am also new to making hardbaits and found this part to be difficult. I got some small wire and just run it through the eyes very lightly after about a minute of dry time. That D2T is nice but limited on the working time but ready to handle within a few hours. I ordered some S81 and recieved it friday. Plan on trying to dip a few this weekend.

BobP, Thanks for the response. I ordered the DN clear and planned on using a washer and screw in the bottom of the can to dispense but I wanted to spray it, but I will see how it does with the brush or dip. I may have to use automotive clear when I get a batch ready to spray and have access to a booth. Ill just have to experiment to see how it goes. I have been looking into House of Kolor for a chrome, I will post back with the result of that. My brother owns a business called Hydo Creations and he does the hydrocoating at his shop but doesnt have a true chrome coating but just about everything else in the way of coatings so I may try a few patters. This is a great site and thanks again for the feedback- I cant wait to get started with some custom lures.

Hey guys, I am new to tackle underground and found this site while searching for info on building my own crankbaits. I have ordered a bunch of blanks, hardware, Createx paints, DN S81 Clear and a Iwata HP-C a-brush. I already had a small compresor and am itching to get started. Months ago I created quite a few scetches of what type of baits that I want to make but wanted to run it by the pros and see if I missed anything for a starter kit. I plan on spraying the DN S81 lure clear and also wanted to know what is best for cleaning the gun after shooting clear as well as what to use between cotes of createx. I am looking to use some sort of chrome base- Has anyone tried hydrocoating the baits in a holographic or chrome before paint and clear? I also wanted to ask if anyone has experimented with adding different pearls to your clear and spraying multiple coats to get different color looks on the bait from different angles (kinda what you see on a vehichle depending on which direction you look at it in the sun?
