The tail spot on a redfish is known as a "false eye". It supposedly designed to fool a predator into hitting the tail instead of the head. Can't imagine a Louisiana redfish having to deal with too many dangers, tho......except for us.

Put a CORRECTLY APPLIED coat over it and you will be just fine. The tacky coat will have no bearing on the second.

If you were to use the tissue like Ben suggested and lay it over aluminum foil...the entire pattern will take on a "metallic" look. The foil shows thru...especially where there is little color or lighter hues. I use toilet tissue (Charmin, single ply), so, I get even more of the foiled effect. Good luck.

21xdc, fishnart might be referring to Diamond 2 epoxy and not KBS. Prior to shutting down their operation, Sylvia @ Bullard Int'l sent me a sample of their Diamond 2 epoxy. After trying it I placed an order and now Etex, which I swore by, finds itself parked on the shelf. D II is just as user-friendly as Etex...maybe even more. considering the "set" time is much less. I can get 4-6 lures coated before I have to thin (depends on temp). After thinning I can usually end up with 10-12 lures with that single 4 tsp batch. Sets hard, smooth and uniform....ready for the KBS. No complaints so far. Btw, Bullard's brushes are the best quality I've ever used. Not throw-aways here, tho.

After using KBS for quite some time...I just can't imagine why anyone would put the dipped lure on a turner. What Bob stated earlier is spot-on.

In response to Bob's comment on KBS..... I never meant to insinuate that KBS doesn't set up in the container because, as Bob pointed out, it's a moisture cure urethane and that's what they do. I can, without reservation, say that, of the MCU's that I've used, KBS is more user friendly in that it doesn't set up prematurely as quick as the others. I couldn't stand it....I bought a quart of Dick Nite back when it was solely the talk-of-the-town. I was shocked at how fast I lost that quart of finish. So then I tried a product called Garco thinking it couldn't possibly be as bad as DN. I don't know that I got 20 lures finished before the stuff stiffened in the jar. In just a matter of a day or so after I noticed it...it was solid in the container. I basically swore off of MCU's after that and went back to my automotive finish....until I came across KBS. A buddy had already tried it and recommended it to me as "the real deal". I have found it to be just that. It will set up in the container, but, not nearly at the rate of the others. I'm thoroughly convinced of that because I've given it every opportunity.
