Welcome, Short. What part of Oklahoma you live? BOOMER SOONER!!!!
  2. No disencouragement taken, Mark. I've screwed up 100's of Bomber jerkbaits throughout the years by modifying this and that, but, some of the tinkerin' suited my application. I just had a couple of crank blanks that had a messed-up epoxy coat on 'em and, since I wasn't about to try to sand the stuff off, I thought I'd tinker. I put the epoxy on the blanks and forgot to turn on my lure wheel. YIKES!!
  3. Nothing, I suppose. I have some blanks that are beyond saving, so, I just thought I'd practice with tinkerin' with the bills.

Man, a redfish would knock the props loose on that thing. Great lookin bait, Ben.
  5. If this has been discussed recently...forgive me. If I were to chamfer the corners of a 1.5 square bill crank......what would be the chance of screwin' up the bait entirely? Bomber did it, so, I figgered why can't I? Thanks

First try? You got nowhere to go but down. j/k
  8. I knew somebody was jumpin' on that.
  9. I hate fishing crankbaits, but, it would be an honor to fish with this dude. You do great work, man.
  10. I'm not familiar with CS Coatings, but, if it happens to be a moisure cure urethane...therein lies your problem most likely. I do the same foiling process as you....even with the same glue. I've never had any finishing issues except when I used Garco clear, a moisture cure urethane. It did the same thing on my lures. My guess is that something in the glue reacted with the clear...or vise versa. I'll betcha if you cleared your lure with an acrylic-based product and then used the CS....your problem would be solved. But, by using a water-based product...you might be creating another problem. Good luck. Hope you figger it out.
  11. Those things look....well, shaggy.

Man, I have no doubt you caught fish on that thing. I'd hit it!! Great job!!
  14. I thinned once with acetone by accident (grabbed the wrong can) and things did not work out well. Like Bob says...denatured alcohol is the way to go for thinning.
  15. I finally got some a couple weeks ago. As far as how long it took......it's been so long that I forgot. Seriously....it's best to not be in too big a hurry.
  16. I ordered some Dick Nite. Finally got it. Now, how do I go about tapping the can to use the screw as a plug? Drill it? Punch it? Self-tappin' screw? Also, do I have to use argon when using this method? If so, do I actually stick the straw down in the DN and pull the trigger? I'm planning to brush the DN as opposed to dipping. Thanks
  17. Now I know where shaggy's been hangin' out. Dude does a great job. I've learned alot from him.

Soooo, it's the camera and not your painting that makes these baits look so good? Gotta get me another camera.
