Heddon don't make 'em that purty.
  2. Them suckers were closed...in the middle of a weekday. I got a Devcon kit that I'm gonna try, but, will probably order the Bob Smith online. I'm havin' a dickens of a time with this epoxy.
  3. Here's more but, like the others...alot of work to do. http://lurepartsonline.com/s.nl/sc.1/category.470/.f
  4. I'll be usin' a decal, Brad. I ain't advanced to paintin' bars just yet. Thanks for your input. With your blessin'.....I think I'll go for it.
  5. I certainly ain't no expert, but, going on what I have learned here on TU.....maybe it's a moisture cure urethane?
  6. Would a bluegill or punkinseed pattern look too unnatural on a 4-5" jerkbait? It was my thought that they are usually reserved for cranks. Thanks
  7. I used Elmers spray glue to foil some baits. I had a minor setback with the finish, so, I had to remove the foil. I tried lacquer thinner, acetone and xylene with no success. Had to literally scrape it off with an x-acto knife.
  8. Thanks, Cap. I'm headed that way on Wednesday. Looks like it's located on Airline, tho.
  9. Not my intention to hijack this thread, but, on the subject of epoxy...who do you guys buy your Bob Smith from? Thanks
  10. How slow? I'm looking at building a turner. Is 2 rpm too slow?
  11. I guess it depends on how deep you bury it to begin with.
  12. I waited 5 days before I recoated that one lure. I sanded it just short of cutting through to the paint...and it still curled. I doubt seriously that I'm using that stuff anymore.
  13. I haven't gotten into the epoxy as of yet with the turner and all that. I'm really disappointed that the Garco did not work.
  14. I've been practicing foiling for a few days now, and, with invaluable help from Ben, I did six baits that were PURR-FECT! No wrinkles, no belemishes of any type. I was so proud of myself. So, the next step is to seal them so I can detail the back and belly. I dipped them in the Garco and all hell broke loose. Wrinkles were everywhere from head to tail.....everywhere except the back and belly. So, I proceeded to strip them by soaking in Xylene (the recommended thinner for this product). The clear coat and the decal came right off, but, getting that foil off was a female dog. My guess is that there was a reaction with the decal because there were no wrinkles in the foil, itself. I dipped one bait that had a water slide decal (no foil) on it and the same thing happened. I dipped a bait that was just painted with Createx (no decal or foil) and it was spotless.....until I recoated it. I'm stumped! Any thoughts? NOTE: Like Brad mentioned....this stuff does cure hard.
  15. Using varnish as a topcoat will drastically and amazingly change the original color of your lures due to yellowing. The lighter the color...the more it will appear to yellow. For example....your pearly whites will turn a bone color in just a matter of a couple of weeks.
  16. That's nice, neat work, Mark. Living on the Louisiana coast and fishing with treble hooks makes me appreciate the need for that rubber net. Amazing likeness to the real thing.
  17. Nice lookin' KO's, man.
