  1. You "make" Catch 5 KO outta wood? Or, do you mean you foil originals? I'd definitely like to see 'em if they're wood.
  2. I went back and read the tutorial again. I thought the image was printed on typing paper (guess I just assumed) but, with it being printed on the tissue...now I understand how the foil comes into play. I'm gonna give it a try 'cause it sounds alot easier than what I'm doing...especially on these baits. Thanks for your input, guys.
  3. Patrick, I wanted to try this since I had all the stuff. It's a piece of cake on a flat-surfaced, smaller lure, but, these jerks are a headache. I plan to try Husky's method, but, I'm not sure I understand the need for the foil...especially since it's covered up with typing paper. Would a printed image work just as well w/o the foil and tissue? Just glue it on the body and finish?
  4. Following shaggy's photo finish tutorial, I was chuggin' right along...until it came time to actually place the decal. After 5 or 6 tries, I realized that this ain't workin'. Now, in all fairness to myself....I put one on a Rattle Trap and it only took about 30 seconds. A 5 3/4" Bomber jerkbait is another animal, however. This bill is right in the friggin' way, although, I'm not certain that it would be any easier if it weren't there. I tried going from tail-to-head and head-to-tail. Because of it's length, it either rolls up or wrinkles terribly. I thought of trying to do it in two pieces, but, I ain't crazy about a visable seam. I'll gladly accept any ideas from you guys. Husky's toilet paper method is lookin' better and better.

    My 1st custom crank

If that was my "first"...I'd stop right there. Great lookin' bait.
  9. Patrick, there must be something in the water up there in Tupelo. You and shaggy got it goin' on. Great lookin' bait.
  10. Juice, I got mine this morning. Immediately took the lid off, stirred it and dipped a bait. Just couldn't wait any longer. Didn't take long for it to tack. Do you think I can spray it through a .3mm tip? Doesn't seem to be any thicker than any other furniture or floor finish I've ever used. Would it be ok to thin it if necessary in order to spray? I saw this on the label and thought it was funny considering what we're using it for... "Surface may become slippery when wet."
  11. I had painted a few baits with rattle cans until I stumbled across TU. Actually, I clicked on here expecting to see an online fishing lure store. At first, I stayed logged on for days at a time because I was truly amazed at the stuff you guys had created....and I still am. I bought all the stuff I needed to begin airbrushing and received tons of information from this site, so, I began to try my hand at airbrushing lures. Even as limited as my skills are, I'm still amazed at what I've been able to do in such a short time. Most of that is due to this hobby being so addictive. The more I try...the more I want to try. Thanks to all you guys for your help. TU rocks!!
  12. I ordered a bucket of the Garco. Haven't received yet but should be here in a day or so. Question: I want to try to spray this stuff on some reels that I refinished, but, I don't want to use my Iwata. It has a .3mm needle. I am thinking of buying a cheaper unit to spray with and was wondering what size needle I would need. Maybe a .5mm? Maybe a mini touch-up gun? I'll be sure to let you guys know what there is to this Garco. Thanks

    bone paint jobs

Looks like bone to me. Good color and thanks for he recipe.
  14. I talked to the people this morning about the urethane and, to be honest, all I got out of the conversation was that the higher the humidity...the faster and harder it cures. I'm like.....I live just north of New Orleans. Lack of humidity is not going to be a problem. I never really got my questions answered. I asked about storage and the lady said to buy quarts instead of gallons. Sorry I can't be of help.
  15. I'm gonna call these people tomorrow about this urethane. Got some questions about storage, etc. I'll post the answers I get.
  16. If using this product, would you dip it and hang to cure? Think I would like to try it if so.
  17. Is there a particular paint designed for soft plastic (rubber) baits? I tried Creatix acrylic but it just rolled right off after drying. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  18. for askin' so many questions. Just one more? If I were gonna paint a fishing reel.....is this Createx paint gonna be ok with adequate clear coating? With what little painting I've done with my airbrush, I fully realize the importance of clear coating. This paint is very delicate without it. Appears to me if it holds up on baits...it should be alright on a reel. Any guidance? Thanks Stan
  19. Ben talked me into getting the Hi-Line and I'm very satisfied with it. This thing makes up for some of my lack of art skills. It is very forgiving and easy to use. I'm glad I got it.
  20. Guys, I'm using Createx but the only silver they offer is Pearlized Silver. It's not really siver enough to suit me. Are there any other options for acrylics? Any simple mixin' recipes? Thanks Stan
