  1. i usually come home and work some in the afternoons when i can for a few hours - it just helps me unwind and de-stress from work that day
  2. i havent fished guntersville in a few years myself (gas keeps me closer to home) but what we did then was fish heavy jigs (3/4oz) in the grass with paca chunks on them. One of the guys i know around here fishes there a lil more often and he said the same thing still works well often but with a "biffle head" jig and a paca craw or lizard. as far as cranks go the main one i know of is a red rattle trap under the bridges and such but thats mostly in cold weather - i have had some guys who fish there ask me to paint up some white bodies with either blue or lime green backs for summer fishing but im not sure if its for there or the other lakes they fish with much more stained water - they also fish alot more up torward stevetson alabama near the steam plant there than on the lower end by guntersville and the state park ill try and find out a lil more if i can when i go to work tomorow
  3. one thing i did to quiet down my process is to get a longer hose for mine and run it to a diffrent room or even outside - to keep the pressures up for painting i run the regulator on the compressor at around 70psi and then at the end of the hose run i added another smaller regulator i can adjust right there and also put my good moisture filter there too with a pressure guage at that assembly i agree with gino though - im in the hvac feild as well and nitrogen is the way to go if you decide to go compressorless - i can see this being benificial if noise was a definite issue for keeping the wife/kids/neighbors happy
  4. ive had really great results and service from coast airbrush out in cali - htey have a huge selection and good prices and the customer service has been nothing short of outstanding when ive had a problem or question as far as paint goes createx is a good place to start in either standard and/or wicked lines and they can be intermixed with no problems ive found - also autoair and wildlife paints are popular choices too depending on your budget, ablilities, and color preferences. one thing to consider i learned is to just keep playing with it and trying - the hardest obsticle i had as a newbie was getting the air pressure and paint consistency down - its kind of an art and just takes time and experience to get a feel for it - and diffrent colors can need diffrent combos of thinning and air pressure even inthe same paint lines - it can be fustrating at first so keep at it and it will become 2nd nature out of habit and experience
  5. if its the overpressure safety valve the hole is supposed to be here - is there a lever/pull on it to let some pressure off? if so try pulling it for a sec and it may reseat itself - its hard to tell exactly where it is on the pic
  6. no its a lc 2.5 ko - i dont have the tools to carve any
  7. ive started clearing all my lips w/ auto clear when i to the rest of the lure - usually one coat is pleny to remove the cloudyness and make a good clear lip - most ive purchased are a lil cloudy when i get them but ive had no problems with yellowing
  8. i actually just painted one very similar to that and just posted a pic in the hard bait gallery (2012 03 03 16 31 00 568) - the way i acheived mine was to paint a red w/ just a touch of orange mixed in over a copper pearl base on the back

  20. if you are spraying auto air paint you also may want to check out some of the "sparkle" colors - esepcially "hot rod sparkle white" - i love it as an accent color/addative in my lures - you can spray it over or under your paint colors or add it in with the color to "pearlize" it - idk if its what you are looking for but ive liked it enough i havent tried actual glitter yet - i have a few pics ive done with it in the hard bait gallery
  21. megabass cyclone sx blank - white base, trans red w/ touch of trans orange mixed in, with copper scaling under and hot rod sparkle white over
  22. thats me - normally i fish an one of the coosa lakes here (weiss or neely henry) or over at my buddys lake and i know what i like to throw at either of them - i just have alot of other ones i like to have in diffrent colors - the main ones i have the biggest selection of is my jig trailers - lots of styles and colors - espeically in black or blue - after that i have about 3 diffrent colors i use regulary (red, chartruce, pumpkinseed) but i hve diffrent styles and such in those colors ill try - i just hate being out there and finding out that they are gobbling up a certain color and its at home :/
  23. i hope its ok with the webby if i relaod this topic - my apologies if its not - i was just wanting to check again and see if anyone had any possible results for some since its been a while since it was posted last and see if something new had been found on it or if a newer member may have some answers possible
  24. its the way i clear coat mine - i like it better than epoxy since its not as thick as well as i can do more at a time with a lot longer window of opportunity with out constatly poouring out more epoxy and mixing it
  25. well for right now i more or less gave in and organized them into bags - until i find a better way - i only have around 60 diffrent bags (mfg bags) i use - i will probably condense it down some more on to what actually makes it onto the boat and leave some in the truck (i know if i leave some at home and keep the fave's in my bag the ones at home will be the color they are hitting on my trip to eufaula in 2 weeks) - i reckon it will be like my painting on cranks - ill know what i can do when i see/brain fart it - lol
