  6. thanks - i try to keep trying diffrent colors and things to learn more about what im doing with mixing and painting - as well as have a vairety for when i do get to go fishing and try to find one that works that day
  7. sorry - i upload most of my pics from my phone so its hard to add explanations on it - ill answer any questions on anything i have done - i have no "secrets" this one is all auto air paints - white basecoat w/ 3 layers of "hot rod sparkle white", then a light grey scale pattern, and a custom mix purple back, a yellow stripe and jet black kill spot
  8. thanks - i have caught quite a few on a shad rap in the golden shad pattern so i decided to try something similar on this body
  9. yea - its a foiled one - i used auto air and took advantage of its tendency to "fisheye" to my andvantage on the back - its like all my best moves in painting it seems - i found it by accident or mistake - lol
  10. my best olive color is a 2 step process - i spray trans orange over black to acheive it - ive tried mixing it but i still like the result of the orange over black best
  11. jet black over copper body
  12. im looking for tips and ideas on how to organize all my soft plastics in my fishing gear - i recently got a bag to hold 3700 size (14x9) plastic boxes for all my crankbaits and wire baits but am stumped when it comes to my plastics - i looked at more of the boxes but they wont hold enough per box it seems and the same is true for binders it seems im always the co-angler even when i take my own boat (its really my dads he rarely uses but he made big boat payments so he gets big storage boxes) so im basicly limited to what i can get in my tacklebox - i have already gone a long ways in making it easy for me to find exactly what im looking for at a quick glance in the boxes im using now - i labled each box to waht is in it (topwater, shallow divers, med divers, deep/lipless, jigs, and so on) ive looked at using the gallon zip lock bag approach and orgainzing by type but im really wanting something faster/easier than digging in a bag to find the color/style i want - ive looked at just getting some small boxes and turning them on end but i can only get maybe 3-4 bags in each one and buying that many boxes would add up in a hurry on cost (less cost= more gas in boat/truck to go) i was wondering if anyone on here has any other suggestions or ideas on what to do to keep things organized and neat to make changes faster and easier on the water
  13. yea i already have several of the bass pro extreme rods and dad just got 2 of the carbon lites last weekend - most of them are for crankbaits and wire baits though - and for that we ahve been well pleased with them - i was just looking for something special for worms and jig fishing with super sensitivity with in my budget yea i did that onlilne the day i got it when i got home - im not taking any chances
  14. i would probably reccomend some transparents since they are so versitile - i usually order from coastairbrush.com myself
  15. i have a pair of iwata eclipse series i got from coastairbrush.com - i have found their normal prices to be about what hobby lobby is with the 40% off coupon - my workhorse and the one i do 90% of my painting with is the eclipse hp-cs (.35 tip) - its a great all purpose brush and one of the most used ones from my research by folks on here as well - my other brush is the eclipse hp-bcs (.5 tip)and i mostly just use it when base coating lots of lures at a time so im not refilling the other one as much - the great thing about having both being eclipse's is i can swap out the needle and nozzle between the 2 as i need depending on what im spraying with no problems or a need to clean both brushes - just those parts
  16. im also from alabama and another good place to look if you have free weekends ive found is trade days, flea markets, and even yard/estate sales - alot of the time you can find mass quanities of lures someone is selling for nothing just to be rid of them since they dont fish and it belonged to a family member or such that passed away - you can get the real lures for good deals and usually a very wide variety in patterns and such
  17. the way i do it is a lil messier but i also am wearing gloves so its not a big deal - i actually just wrap the netting around the lure and then hold it tight between my index and bird fingers - it gets warm for a secont to heat set (im just using a cheap hair dryer) but i heat set for a few seconds to dry it enough to remove the material and then go back to my normal method of holding lures to paint (a pair of small vise grips on the bill) and do a good heat set
