  1. the cheartruce stripe isnt nearly that bright in person - and there is more grey in the patterno between the stripe and blue back as well - im not very good with pics - especially when the only camera i have is the one on my phone
  2. ok thanks so much - ill definitly check that out now - ive ordered from brownells before for parts for my guns and was looking to order a few more in the near future as well

    Skinny Red Shad

micro dots? i can see a faint red tint in it on the bottom pic how is that done if you dont mind sharing a secret with a newbie?
  4. sexy shad pattern on 4 diffrent bodies - still needing to be clear coated though
  5. i know this is a lil off topic for here but so many folks i know who fish also hunt as well. i have been approached by one of my coworkers about possibly painting a camo pattern on his guns for him. He has tried re-blueing them before but it doesnt seem to last as well as he wants a dull/camo finish on them. i feel like probably the auto-air line from createx would be best since its a urathane base and made for cars and then using a matte finsh automotive clear for a top/seal coat. i was wondering if anyone else on here has tried this as well and if so do you have any tips or advice to share? thanks junyer
  6. update - i just got off the phone with the folks at coast airbrush - they are a authorized dealer of the old school flake and i asked them about the mini flake buster gun to see if they had any info on it - at this time they have heard about it and one of their in house/supported artist has used it and highly liked it for small/detail work but they currently have no info on pricing or availablity so i left my email address for them to contact me when they hear on it
  7. i most definitly will ben - have you or anyone else in your recollection tried any off the duplicolor clear coat available? its a laquor and does not require mixing at all so im not as sure about it but i like some of the prices better on my budget i do plan to talk to my "paint expert" (coworker) tomorrow sometime about some of things and see what else he knows of available on flake - he doesnt know much on airbushing but he is the only guy in the area who can work on and repair larger commercial spray guns as well as having tons of experience in the commercial paint feild as a painter and sales rep - he is my go to guy on any kind of paint question and would be a really nice guy overall if he wasnt a dang bama fan - lol
  8. im already looking at ordering either a small touch up brush or a siphone feed eclipse and moving to automotive clear as well for a top coat - after looking at the links i got from ben the "mini flake buster" gun coming out soon from old school flake looks to maybe be the way to go for the small application we use here - i am defitly looking at being a guinnea pig for it when it is finally released - it looks to attach to the front of current airbrushes and be used that way - they have a few videos on youtube adn it looks to be easy and effective for small applications
  9. ok thanks for the tip - i had been looking at either some cheap full size guns from lowes or a cheaper bottom feed airbrush with a bigger nozzle to do auto clear and/or flake with rather than use my eclipse - like you im only doing a few at a time so idk if a bigger gun would be worth it but i may get one anyway since i would like to have one for spraying finishes on woodworking projects as well another question for you if you dont mind - where is a good place to buy flake? and what size flakes have worked best for you ? i looked at some at coastairbrush but i quickly got a lil confused as to what will be best for what i want to do
  10. ben what are you using to spray your automotive clear? did you purchase a seperate gun made more for automotive purposes or are you using small amounts in your airbrush? im out of work for a few weeks for surgery recovery and spraying flake is one of the things i want to use my down time for as well as getting better at standard finishes - my go to lures are normally middle n's from norman lures and they usually have a flake in them and it seems to help in the muddy water i normally fish a lot
  11. i have used several things myself - ive purchased veil material from hobby lobby and it works very well, is cheap and you can find diffrent sizes also - ive also used other mesh bags, and even drywall tape for a diffrent look - to me its like vodkaman said - i just keep an eye out and use my imagination adn try diffrent things - ive learned that with using createx i can just go to the sink and a lil saopy warm water adn im ready to start over if i dont like it
  12. yea its a broke back jitterbug - i usually reel it with a slow steady pull - it wobbles back and forth and the shape of the metal plate makes a "blub-blub-blub-blub" kind of sound
  13. chartruese/lime body with orange belly and dark green stripes and back - white pearl eyes - my first repaint on a jointed lure
  14. silver body, metallic graphite back w/ orange belly spot
  15. metallic graphite back over whtie base
  16. chartruece body with mettalic graphite back and orange belly
  17. ive had the same trouble as well posting pics - it says i dont have permision or must be logged in - but according to the top right corner i am logged in and posting in the forums has been no trouble - just posting new pics
  18. you may want to check out coastairbrush.com - they do international shipping and have a huge selection and good pricing - its where i have gotten a majority of my stuff
  19. i pretty much use 10 or 12lb suffix exclusively - i really like the seige (blue pkg) for my crankbaits and jigs since it does seem to hold up better against abrasion from rocks (my way thing to fish) but i like the elite more for worms since it has a lil less memory and resists looping as bad - knot strength on either is much better and more secure to me than trilene or stren ever was - ive wanted to try floro but its hard to justify the extra cost when the lakes i fish (coosa river) are pretty dingy and muddy water
  20. one thing ive found helps is add a drop or two of opaque yellow or green when spraying floro yellow to get the right shade/consistency im after and also thinning with wicked reducer as well instead of water helps tremendously too in my opinion - as far as scale material i found veil material from hobby lobby works very well and is cheap ($1.39/sq yd) - i just cut a 4-5" square at a time and reuse it again after it dries a day or so - ive also noticed that if you heat set between coats and slowly build it up, it can make a 3D effect in the scaling as well - it took some practice but it can be done - just be sure to heat set between coats and do a final heat set really well - other wise i have had trouble with taking a section of paint up when pulling off the veil material - peeling slowly from one direction seems to work best for me
  21. ive also learned that you can make some custom and pretty nice colors with a lil patience and some time mixing paint you already have in hand
  22. neatest one of all so far - looks 3 diffrent colors depending on how light hits it - pearl green back faded to a blue body with wicked gold over entire lure for some shimmer
  23. heavy wicked gold over a base white body with black back - got a nice gold sheen body and bronze back now
  24. fire tiger - used a comb for stripes- need one with longer teeth to prevent over spray
  25. pearl green back, orange body with wicked gold added on top for a mild shimmer
