  1. Keep in the mind: paint and coat increase the mass of blades and therefore decrease the angle of its spread, and (in most cases) the speed. The thinner blade and thicker coat making this effect more significant. It can be either desirable or not,
  2. Old electro shaver or cell phone also useable
  3. Extra coat - extra weight and thikness
  4. After casting, sometimes body of the lure laying in the blade cavity and gliding like in the boat without rotation. I've first thought it is happen only with my lures but after testing Mepp's "Flying C" and Blue Fox I've found that is a common problem. It is seldom but I can't grasp why it is happen. I've tried different body weights, sizes of blade and clevis, distance between clevis and blade; also blade bending to or out of body, anyway - if lure starts when blade initially afront of body (after hitting the water vertically to suffers) it could happen on any speed of retrieving. Maybe some hydrodynamic forces cause it? Any ideas?
  5. For bending I am using Twistech former. It is very helpful. Only one problem - you could not place winding loop close to clevis. It is leaving the gap about 10mm. It has been discussed lower in the: " Help--which Wire Bender To Buy"

Thank you very much! I'll buy #2. By the way: you are made a great photos. How are you posting them? Kindly regards

Dream Clevis 2000Any ideas about size of Dream Clevis 2000 for French blades #5? Clevises #1 or #2? They are selling big packs and I don't want to buy stuff that I don't need. Thank you

    Clevises Shape

Bingo! Dream Clevis 2000 have the shape I am looking for! Thank you very much! I've tried small bids on the top of clevis. Edge of blade pushing the bid up and stuck anyway between clevis, bid and wire. I am appreciate everybody trying to help for resolving that problem. Advices are pricless even with inflation.

    Clevises Shape

Sorry for typo: I mean the "bath" - not the "bass".

By the way, there is also another problem: after casting, body of the lure laying in the blade cavity and gliding like on the water sky without rotation. May be distance in the bass too short...It is also happen approximately one time from twenty. Lures with french blades less prone to that effect.

    Clevises Shape

I am testing all lures (mine and bought) in the bass. I flip them like after casting and pulling them back and forth. Case I've mention happens not so often but happens and I don't want somebody or mi sorry if it happen when fish of the life is nearby and ignore the lure. I've experimented with different kinds and sizes of clevises, bend them, file sharp edges of stirrup clevises etc. Sometimes it's become better, sometimes - not, but not eliminating the problem at all. I hope that advice of toadfrog about tiny bid will help.

    Clevises Shape

Thank you, toadfrog! I think the space is enough but tiny bid above clevis is probably a bright idea. (If bid will not slide up during the cast). May be there is a reason to decrease the space between twist and bid to prevent it. I'll try that.

    Clevises Shape

I am trying to make my own design but a problem I've described above is common and happen with any spinners except Mepps. I've explored a lot of different manufactures. If blade has turned over and up, it has stuck and impossible to force it to rotate. The shape of Mepps clevis ( https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-2Sd_x9j4wzw/UHLFYLNN79I/AAAAAAAAXu0/T0BUlbYadoU/s150/folded-clevis.jpg ) allows blade to slide back. It is patented by Mepps.

Thank you, Musky Glenn! I have that clevises and tried them. Unfortunately they are not eliminated problem completely because have just horse shoe shape - not sharper angle downward on the top like Mepp's.

    Clevises Shape

I've found that with standard (half round) shape of clevis, blade sometimes after casting turns over and deadly stucks between upper part of wire and sharp edge of clevis. Probably because of that Mepps making "half pear" (narrow in the upper part and wide in the lower) shape of folding clevis without of sharp edges and that shape allows to blade sliding back to normal position. Question: Could I buy somewhere the same kind of clevises? Thanks
  17. Thank you for reply! Yes, what I am doing now! Question is: Why Mapps or Blue Fox with there huge experience don't do it? May be for some reason? I am not thinking because of economy. They are using silver plated blades etc... for best performance. I am not fishing so much for accumulate enough statistics...
  18. Almost all best spinners (Mepp’s, Blue Fox etc.) have dangling treble hooks. Is it has some reason or hook could be forced to horizontal position by tubing like lure extending? Thanks
  19. Be careful when choosing wire. It should be not too soft, not too stiff. I've bought .038 Soft S.S. from Malin Co. It is very nice for work but lures very easy bending. I am also looking now for good wire. For bending I am using Twistech former. It is very helpful. Only one problem - you could not place winding loop close to clevis. It is leaving the gap about 10mm. 20. Try to use foil from can to insulate pass for split ring.
  21. Check Eastwood Co. They have a lot of PP colors for cars.
  22. Thank you spinman! Your's hint about latex help me to find: http://www.4fishin.com/surgical_tubing.htm?gclid=CMjYoImAlLICFcZxQgodvjYAKQ Everything you need for fishing Surgical Tubing For Lure Making (Latex) Kindly regards, ING

    Coiled Wire

IMHO straightening coiled wire doesn't worth the efforts and time spend to.
  24. Thank you smalljaw! I've found it but unfortunately colors are not bright like Mepp's. Probably I'll turn to powder paint.. Thank you again!
  25. Thank you very much! It is good website - new for me. Unfortunately they have only 1/8 internal diameter. It is good only for hooks and I've order some. I also looking for bigger diameter for body - like Mapp's "flying C". Kindly regards, ING
