This is a really awesome color Monte! How big are they? Are they just like a small shakey head type bait?

its .039" piano wire. I think its right around 17 or 18 gauge. I got it from Ace Hardware.... im sure you could find it just about any hardware store. It comes in straight 3' sections.

    I caved.... and made one
  4. Since I only make 2-6 baits at a time I made a device to use a variable speed drill for a lure turner. I might try your idea, im sure I could find a cheap old sewing machine somewhere.

    Fish Charmer

Looks very good! How well does it swim? Did you weight the front body at all?
  6. If you read what Paul Elias said on flw, he said he never caught fish on the top baits anyways. So why not take two big size 5 or size 6 willow blades on the top two and put swimbaits or whatever you want on the other three? I think that would add some flash and make the contraption useful even in slightly stained water.

Your baits looks so good they piss me off. With all do respect that is.
  8. littleriver what gauge wire did you use? Do you think its adequate? Im definitely gonna try to make one of these, I dont tournament fish to seriously since im in engineering school still and dont have the time but I do fish a little jackpot on a lake that almost all the big fish suspend lol. Or better yet does anyone know what gauge wire is used on like a half oz spinnerbait for example? Thanks in advance, Cory

These are made from cedar. They were not very hard to make really. Just put the ballast in the belly and make sure the lure is buoyant enough. I think on my next ones I will put the ballast further back to make the nose sit a little higher. These work pretty well though for me holding the rod at about 3 oclock position. They are 2 3/8" long with 1/16 oz ballast.

Think thickness matters to the fish? They both work well.

  13. I picked this hobby up hoping that one day when im done with college and pursuing tournament fishing it could give me an edge. Also because im a mechanical kind of person and enjoy the challenge of it.
  14. Any idea for a date yet? If need be I can start getting a set of lures together
  15. Any thoughts on getting another lure swap put together? I'd be in for sure.

been slacking on making cranks, engineering degrees are time consuming who would have thought? couple wake baits, and mid-depth divers
  19. Has anyone besides me used the weights bass pro carries that snap on a EWG hook (for swimbaits and stickbaits)? I just make my hook hanger out of 19 or 20 gauge wire and then snap the weight around the twisted wire and try to make it as round as possible. Then take a 3/16 drill bit and drill your belly weight hole, it should fit a little snug but should fit no problem. (this is for the 1/16 oz they carry)
  20. Well after doing a couple searches I have not seen any information on where you guys like to buy your D2T in bulk. Its getting old using the 1 oz syringes already. Just wondering what website or maybe even a store that sells it in the D2T in the 9 oz bottles. Thanks in advance, Cory
  21. all of the crankbaits i have painted to date.
