  1. I make more splashers for hybrid bass at the local dam wood wise but do make a few thin large lures to mimic the local skipjack shad that are from 6 to 14 inchs long that the bigger hybrid bass eat(a 5 lb hybrid will knock the @#$% out of a bigger bait) and becouse theres not many lures the size and weight i use to reach them i make my own and like the feeling of having one about yank the pole out of your hands when it hits in the current below the dams(had them break 20 and 30 lb test on the strike)
  2. I posted some halo foil i found at the dollar store in the tissue paper area that works pretty well on flatter sided crank baits try searching hard baits and foil comes in a few diff colors and styles the gold can be used as silver just by flipping it over
  3. Nice looking bait you have should be a killer bait
  4. I use forstner bits on anything bigger then 1/4 inch anything smaller a brad point works great nice clean flat bottomed holes in both

Thats too cool brad really thinking outside the box on that one
  14. I reduce folk art paint till it drips off a toothpick in about 3 to 5 seconds after dipping it in about 1/2 way then spray it on a peice of plastic to see if it sticks your good to go, or runs if it runs i add a 2 to 5 drops of paint to the mix and try again( I'm mixing 1 oz at a time)
  15. If you just want to repaint it just scuff it up with a scotch brit pad and re paint it if its still smooth on the finish if not lightly sand out the dings and then paint it.you don't have to sand all the paint off but if you do give it a quick dip in acetone and wash it off in water that gives the paint something to bite into

  21. Thats the good thing about water base paint you can wash it off and start over and your right you learn alot as you paint
  22. thanks yes it is and works well for the few baits i do,just a bent coathanger with paperclips wrapped to the ends and a rubber band and hook on the other,i chuck it in my drill and tape the button to turn slowly...
  23. thanks the brown trout should eat them too
  24. as for paint you can use Folk art from the local art dept in wal-mart for paint (theres alot of colors for 1.50 a bottle you just have to thin it down to spray good theres reducers recipes on here too so you don't have to spend alot of money to start out with paints or you can buy reg. airbrush paint and most of that sprays good right out of the bottle. just look up airbrush paint you will get alot of diff. ones
  25. same here brad i find its easy to do and after you re-epoxy over the eyes its as good as new at sealing the bait
