  11. welcome to the underground ..as for e-tex in the cold i think i would go with 2ton 30 min.epoxy becouse of the set up time being alot shorter(30 mins. verse a few hours ) also hit the e-tex or epoxy with a heat gun/hair dryer after applying to smooth out the top coat it will run like cream on the bait for a few mins then reset to a thicker const... i live over by moundsville W.V. you might let your wife know thers little to no smell to the e-tex or epoxy if that what shes worryed about.i do my bait in the basement and after it set up bring the rack of bait in the house to finish cureing, are you painting your baits outside?or in a shed? you could set up in a small shed with a heater or something to help but the e-tex cures like epoxy from when you mix the two it a chemical reaction not really a heat cure anyway
  12. you could turn one on a lathe to the shape you need then make a mold from that... are you looking for kona type heads? and are the smoker heads the type with holes around the outside so that it makes a trail of bubbles?
  13. never though of the straw trick thats a new one for me
  14. see how well this bait making works? great job on the bait i bet your suns proud as a peacock with that plug!!!
  15. welcome to the UNDERGROUND... you poor sole start by getting a basic set of colors and go from there(red, yellow, black, white, blue, green)and add a few pearls white and gold ect..you can buy createx paints or just go to the local hobbie shop /wal-mart and buy some craft paint like folk art or something like it as its a watter base paint and is easy to thin(look up thinning paint on here for how we do it) as for sealing the wood yes it will have to be sealed with a wood sealer or epoxy so when you paint it and heat set the paint you don't get air bubbles coming out of the wood and wrecking the great paint job you just spent 3 hours on.I prep my bait by a good cleaning in hot water to get any oils /release agent off the baits so i don't get fisheyes in the paint as for sealer on the alumilite krilon spray paint for plastic is what alot of guys use? hope this helps john aka crankpaint
