    Juvenile Crappie

get the knife its crappie eating time
  3. best color also as to what the fish feed on i.e. shad maybe in a lake, frogs in a farm pond, black jitterbugs will show up well against the sky and the moon and has been on my rod most of the times i fish at night,But for the most part i think its the action of the lure that triggers the strike not really the color,so paint what you like and see if it catchs a fish or two and as for the popcorn bluetick i like mine with lots of butter
  4. The one thing you have to take in affect is the drag on the line you use at some point the drag against the line will not let the bait pull any deeper becouse the weight of pull against the line is the same or greater then the bait will be able to overcome, and when its greater it will begain to pull the bait upward becouse the drag the line has from friction against the water,i used to fish for samon in the great lakes and used what we called a slider rig(ten ft of line with a swivel at each end ) putting a lure on one end and attaching the other end to the main line on the rod being used on the downrigger letting it slide down the line to a point where the line bows to to the pull from the lure/line and it would slide down the line 1/2 the distaince to the cannon ball, even with a diving type crankbait(and should dive all the way to the weight/clip due to the sliding of the line)all becouse of drag on the line it wont go past that point, thats why thay used to troll with lead core line to get the bait deep before the invent of the downrigger

  12. saw one explaned on T.V. the guy was useing 1/2oz jig heads with a 4 inch shad on each jig and was throwing it on a heavy action rod with a fast tapper with 50lb braid thats alot of weight to throw but you would think that much lead leading the cast it would'nt tumble??

    Troutastic

nice work ,what color did you come up with on the belly?
  14. to answer your question about the 1/16 oz res. that should be enough for most musky plugs as you really dont put on much paint 8 to 10 drops of paint cover alot of lure and you can aways add a few drops if you did'nt put enought paint in the first time,Remember you only paint one color at a time

    New bait color

  16. NOW THATS THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!! really cool looking bait bruce
  17. there are alot of water based paints in metallic colors and are alot better as to cleaning between colors theres gold, silver, copper, blues reds ect..and the colors can be sprayed in an airbrush so you can get the details in the baits and thats hard to do with a rattle can also alot better clean up after spraying in the brush hope this helps

    sexy shad glider

5 1/2 in glider foiled and painted like a sassy shad (sexy shad color) for hybrid bass down on the river with green glitter added to the finish
  19. there are some great teachers on here so thats a good start
  20. I was a first mate on a charter boat in the great lakes and used flashers and dodgers for lake trout and samon most don't weigh more then 1-1 1/2 ozs there just large steel/brass plate .040 thick plated or painted about 3 inchs wide and 10 to 14 inchs long with a slight curve pressed into them so that it looks like a large spoon? not really much to them the flash draws in the fish to hit the spoon or fly(plastis squid) trailing a few feet behind the flasher
  21. you could glue a glass rattle(like you put in plastic worms ect.) to the wire hook hanger so its in the bait when you pour the plug,or just drill a hole and insert the rattle and fill the hole?but if its a popping plug the sound it makes when popped would be the attracting sound so why the rattle?
  22. you can us a router on it and get clean cuts, and but to cut it into workable peices might be hard to do as it would melt from heat of a table saw blade (might be able to cut it a little at a time) but it might just work?? if you can get a peice and try it go for it you might have a gold mine

    bullshad

nice paint jobs as aways gunniei like the line shadeing to make the scale lines
  24. looking at the lure it looks like i would paint gold first then the green color next as it has a gold hue lower on the sides of the bait then blends to the green color on top
  25. I've used scents for over 20 years and beleive in them 110% from fishing with them and having others fish the same lure without them, i've seen just how well it will put fish on a hook. as for oil vs water i like the oil becouse it stays on the the lure better is all.
