    bleeder

sometimes I do it just to practice. lol.
  5. Mine came with rubber sleeves just for that.
  6. The vise that I use is a small 6 or 8" I think. I got it at lowe's for about 25 dollars if I remember correctly. It's not a must have but it sure makes drilling ballast holes easier. I also use it to clamp the blanks in while they are still flat and cut the slot lip (the jaws make an excellent straight edge). I still use the search function a ton (I've only been here a year), and it's still very useful. Most important thing is use what works best for YOU, and have fun. Welcome to your new addiction.
  7. My limited arsenal includes a Coping saw, Dremmel, small vise, tin snips (for cutting lexan), heavy duty wire cutters (Bolt cutter style for cutting the SS wire). cordless drill for the ballast holes, a cheap airbrush, and cheap paint brushes for the epoxy. This is my bare minimum, except maybe the drill as this can be done with a dremmel and carving bits. Hope this has helped you and good luck.

    For a friend at work.

  15. Sorry Bass Tackler, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I paint with thinned Folk Art acrylic paints from wal-mart. I paint any kind of bait that I can get my hands on. Use thirty minute epoxy for a topcoat (I get it at a local auto parts store) and seal coat for wood lures. I hope this has been helpful.
  16. "There are many brands of clear coats availiable,I have had good sucess with Nail Master Varnish,it dries hard and really makes colors pop." Do you just use the varnish or do you use the glaze coat with it? How hard does it dry? Sorry for the questions that just jumped out at me and it sounds interesting.
  17. I hope he catches ANYTHING on it! That would tickle me to death.
  18. I rough carved it but he sanded, sealed, weighted, painted, and topcoated it. I'm so proud of him!
  19. Don't know if you have an O'reilly's or not but they sell a good 2 ton epoxy here in Arkansas.
