  1. <---- Voice of experience. I MAY have done the same thing when I was assembling my pot.
  2. Do you have the bracket upside down? There's no slop in my pot in that area.
  3. Midway had them for $360 with free shipping last week. Also a $50 rebate.
  4. I run pure lead in my molds. Only time I use harder lead is when working with a spin cast machine. Antimony will harden the lead and tin will help it flow it better.

How much wire do you want for baits? Hagen's has the best price if you need a lot. 1000 8" .051 shafts is about $65 delivered. If you want smaller quantities then read this thread as you've been given several good suggestions. Some people use thin copper wire to tie silicone skirts. 1. Make a list of everything you need. 2. Price shop and try and get as much as possible from one supplier.
  6. I have to ask why? That L keeper on the Shad Rig Jig works pretty good. What you're describing is a TON of work and will most likely end up with a FUBAR mold.
  7. Why not just buy the Do-It 3248? http://store.do-itmolds.com/Weedless-Bullet-Bass-JigbrSz-14-38-12brHk-L2221brCollar-Ball_p_1064.html
  8. No. Wheel weights are hard lead and many of them are Zinc. It's not worth messing with them at all.
  9. Talcum powder works well on most of those molds.
  10. I guess it depends on the size of the hook. With the 0 sized hooks they are much harder than a drill bit a low speed. I try and clear eyes after I dip, doing so with a piece of wire, but some still get clogged after baking and that's where the drill comes in.
  11. http://lurecomponents.worthco.com/blade-size-comparison That link is a lifesaver.
  12. They are the micro cutters. Come five per pack for under $22. Best thing to clean eyes I've found is either a Dremel with the correct sized drill bit or a cordless drill with the correct sized bit. I've used both and you can do a lot of clogged eyes in a hurry with either one.
  13. I'm sitting right around 80 molds right now. The first ones I purchased were the early 80's. I know that handle color meant something then. Black handles were "Pro" molds. The older molds are better IMHO. That being said you'll not find a better mold at the price.
  14. +2 on the RCBS. Best money I've ever spent on this hobby.
  15. I remove a lot of sprues. In any given week I'll run 100 lbs minimum through my RCBS pot. I've found that I can twist off the sprues on 99% of what I cast. I use pure lead. Once in a while I need to use gate cutters to remove what's left. I buy a five pack of Hakko cutters on Amazon for $22. One of those cutters will last me till someone else uses them and cuts wire or hits a hook shank. I'm casting everything from 1/16 jigs to 3 ounce sinkers.
  16. One thing I've learned working with a spin casting machine is that plain old talc works wonders on those hard to pour molds. If I'm having trouble getting a mold to fill out I dust both sides with talc and it works like a champ.
  17. Called and talked to John. He told me that he's been busy moving to a new location. Payment card had not been charged yet, John told me he would get the order out ASAP.
  18. Thanks. Could not find a phone number on the web site.
  19. Placed a order 4/20 and so far I've heard nothing from them. Anyone else having problems with them?
  20. The Twistech only does loops and barrel wraps. Pretty much the same as the Hagen tool. I've done wire as light as .020 and as heavy as .041. It maxes out at .041 and you need to change the die to do anything above .037. The standard Hagen won't do coils, they sell a separate tool for that, nor will it do R bends.
  21. Twistech won't do a closed loop. It does a barrel twist to finish off the loop.
  22. IMHO the Twistech is the best loop forming tool on the market. What don't you like about it? If you're forming wire larger than .037 you need the larger forming die.
  23. I use a clear 2 part epoxy I buy in larger bottles. Works great.
  24. I've used Hagen's, Twistech and Boggs. I still use a Hagen's for bending wire larger than .041. Twistech for all the smaller wire. That's about 500 pieces a week right now going through the Twistech,
  25. The rounded end type are sold by Hagen's. Just got 1,000 of them. Biggest size is 1" long. The longer pointed type I have not been able to find who makes them. I buy the 2" long ones for a swim jig I build. I get those from either Barlow's or LPO. None of the big three blade makers catalog them.
