  1. Was it just one mold with the sticking problem or more than one? The only mold I have that gives me any real trouble is the Do-It Wobble jig mold.
  2. I'm wondering the same thing. Guess I'll have to contact them. I need a bunch of hooks and even adding the 10% excise tax to the Shorty's price could save me a bunch of money.
  3. I need to hit up the yard sales and thrift stores to get a "ingot" pan.
  4. Get the purest lead you can get. Make sure the lead is the right temperature. Get some gate shears. They work very well at cutting the sprue off. I got mine at Home Depot in the electrical section.
  5. I've got a aluminum baking sheet, tapered springs and a cheap orbital sander. All I need to do is put it all together.
  6. Received my order of paint from Rosey's yesterday. Painted some lure bodies today. Paint seems a lot denser than the ProTec. I had to fiddle with my fluid beds a bit but that's not a problem. Just enforced the fact that I need to get my vibration table built. Liked the paints so much I placed an additional order this evening to take advantage of the sale. Some of the powders are as low as $3.25 a lb.
  7. Rosey's is having a pretty decent sale on powder paint right now.
  8. Bucktail is pretty cheap if you shop around. There's a product called Fishair that works pretty good.
  9. Flux mine all the time. I use a cheap spoon I got at a thrift store.
  10. I see heat presses on eBay under $160 with free shipping. Not sure if they are the right type or not. There are tee shirt presses with bids starting as low as $35. If a tee shirt press will work for flat jigs/slabs then I'll be getting one.
  11. My order was shipped in two days. That's plenty quick for me.
  12. Built a few test spinners last night to use when fishing for white bass. Used a #1 Gamakatsu siwash hook on them instead of the normal treble. They were a real joy to fish. I didn't miss any fish using them, it was much easier and quicker to unhook the fish and I had no deep hooked bleeders. So now I'm looking for a source for bulk Mustad 10848NP-BN hooks in size 1 or even 2. I much prefer using the Mustad hooks over the Gamakatsu as I had better luck with them in the PNW. If I can't get them in bulk I guess I could settle for Gamakatsu bulk siwash hooks. If anyone knows of a source thanks in advance!
  13. Used their form on the website and now I'm in. Good prices there.
  14. Might try a vibration table. I'm going to build one soon. Got the tapered spring feet today. I've got the sander and cookie sheet. Just need to get some hardware to attach the feet.
  15. Those look awesome. I might have to try that with some slabs for sand bass and hybrids.
  16. Just ordered some from Grandpa's jigs. Under $3 each. I guess I'll find out next week if they're any good. They had good reviews on the forum where I found the link. I think that smalljaw meant crazyanglertackle dot com
  17. Do ya have to call Shorty's? I can't find a way to order on their web site. Also what other hooks can be used in molds that take the Eagle Claw 630/635 and 410/413?
  18. Hold the head by the eye and dip it. Works quite well for me.
  19. Anyone have a inexpensive source for jig hooks? I know about Capt. Hooks and all the usual suspects. So far the best prices I've found have been at Barlow's.
  20. I normally fish pretty light anyway. So those L570 sound like a good choice.
  21. Are the L570BP hooks a bit stronger than the standard 570 hooks?
  22. I've noticed that Eagle Claw is coming out or has come out with a lot of new jig hooks. Does anyone have any info about using EC jig hooks instead of Mustad? For instance, I've got a mold that used the Mustad 32786 BLN hook and would like to find something that's a little less expensive to use. Will the Eagle Claw L730 work? I had a catalog that had some conversion charts but my ever efficient wife threw the catalog away once it left my hands. Thanks.
  23. I bought 3' of 1/8" Teflon rod from Amazon for around $3. Made a lot of pins with it.
  24. Simply what is it and where can I get it?
