  1. I'd like to duplicate the Mepps and Blue Fox spinners. Is there a chart or something that tells me what size components I need for each size?
  2. Beer cans are made from aluminum also. Just because it's aluminum it doesn't mean it's a good reflector. I'm planning on building a curing box. I'll use a 55 watt CF bulb from 1000bulbs.com and a 55 watt kit from AH supply. I've used AH Supply kits from all my high light aquariums. I can look at a bare 55 watt CF bulb. Put it in that reflector and it will blind you.
  3. Fastenal carrys wire in most of their stores. They have a lot of local locations.
  4. Anyone that's planning on making a curing box should realize one thing. Tin/aluminum foil is a very poor reflector. White gloss paint does a better job of reflecting light. I've been into aquariums for years so I know a little bit about reflectors.
  5. .035 wire would work just fine for those.
  6. Been using standard Createx paint to paint spinner blades. I've been looking at the Wicked line of paints and am wondering if anyone has used them to paint metal. Thanks.
  7. What kind of primer are you using? Are these steel blades or brass? I paint brass blades and just use a good base coat of white paint. Then I paint all other colors over that.
  8. http://www.seaisletackle.com/browse.cfm/4,4067.html Been using that one for a couple of months. It works great.
  9. There is no fish oil in WD-40. http://www.wd40.com/files/pdf/msds-wd494716385.pdf
  10. Use my Twistech for salmon trolling spinners and prawn spinners. Might even use it to build spreaders someday.
  11. Built over 200 salmon trolling spinners this year. All on .035 wire. I'm sold on my Twistech. I can crank out about 30-40 spinners per hour with that tool.
  12. As soon as you can buy a compressor. $50 should get you what you need if you shop carefully. Those air cans are a waste of money.
  13. Get some Createx paint and try that. I have a feeling you're thinning your paint too much.
  14. Pipe cleaners can cause problems. Little bits of the fluff can clog a brush. Not to mention they're to large to clean most brushes. Go to Harbor Freight and buy some cleaning brushes for airbrushes. They cost about $1.
  15. Try Barlow's Tackle. I know they ship international.
  16. Please convert your image to a standard image format. I don't download .doc files from anyone I don't know. Nor do I recommend anyone else do it. Also many people don't have MS Word installed. Which style of blade are you looking for?
  17. Poulsen Cascade owns the dies for the Bear Valley blades. I'm headed down there tomorrow to talk to the owner. It seems that they don't sell the blades in bulk unless you're a manufacturer. They own the dies for several popular NW blade styles. Going to try and talk Tom into selling in bulk.

    Blades

The rack is simply hardware cloth on a frame. I then cut vertical wires and bent them out into a small hook. Works awesome. On a lot of my blades I'm painting both front and back. Always paint the back first or the rack with scratch the paint on the front of the blade.

    Blades

I paint a lot of blades for salmon spinners. Here's how I do it. 1. Remove lacquer from blades if necessary. 2. Lightly scuff the surface to be painted. 3. Spray 2-3 light coats of white Createx (if needed). 4. Spray additional Createx colors to get desired effect. I try and spray when it's a bit warmer since I spray in the garage. I hit the blades with a heat gun on low for a few seconds between coats. 5. After the blade is painted I bake them in the oven at 175 for an hour or so. 6. Apply top coat. I'm using D2T thinned out with denatured alcohol. I looked long and hard for a top coat. It boiled down between a auto clear coat or the Devcon. The auto clear coat would spray fine through a airbrush but it's a toxic substance. It's also quite expensive.BTW, I built racks to hold the blades while I paint them. Here's a picture of the racks and some of the blades I've painted.
  20. Another local company. I actually used to work with the guy that owns it. He's not returned my email or calls. Seems there are only TWO sources (or actually one since I have a feeling that BC gets them from Poulsen Cascade) for these blades.
  21. Closest I've been able to find are the Aspen blades.
  22. I've been in their shop as they are local. They won't tell me where they get them. They want me to pay $1 each for them.
  23. Bear Valley blades are an old style blade. Still quite popular with salmon fishermen up here in the Pacific NW. Can't seem to find anywhere to buy these in bulk. Locally they start at $1 per blade and go up. If anyone knows where I can find these please let me know.
  24. <p> Did you even look at the site you linked to?They don't carry wire.A better site, albeit and bit expensive would be smallparts.com
  25. You'll need a moisture trap and a regulator. You can get both in one unit at Harbor Freight for about $10-15.
